𝟭. 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 & 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸: Never act on impulse, no matter how urgent the situation seems.

𝟮. 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆: Contact the person or institution directly using an official contact method, not the link or number provided in the message.

𝟯. 𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘀: Legitimate companies and platforms will never ask for your passwords or one-time verification codes over the phone or via text.

𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿: Your strongest firewall isn't made of code, it's a security-first mindset.

PLEASE don’t fall for the scammers’ tricks! If you get a call, text, or email advising you that your account has been compromised or hacked…DON’T continue the conversation or click any links. Instead, contact your bank or credit card company directly by phone using a phone number that you can confirm belongs to the business in question to confirm your account’s status!

You aren’t tricking Facebook with the “copy-and-paste” bypass-the-system thing. In fact, you are reinforcing it: your feed shows more posts from friends when you interact with their posts. If you like or comment on a friend’s post, FB shows you more of those posts as opposed to posts from friends you might not interact with as much. If a certain FB friend is missing from your feed…go out of your way, visit their FB page and like or comment on one of their posts.
