A website can be finished and still sit unlaunched for six months. We’ve seen it happen. The missing piece wasn’t design, development, or content. It was final approval from a managing partner who didn’t have time to review it.

Before kickoff, decide who provides feedback, how tiebreakers get resolved, and who can approve the launch. Finally, make sure this group has the bandwidth to participate in these decisions.

The holidays have a way of arriving faster than expected.

One minute, your firm is planning for the fourth quarter. The next, someone is searching for last year’s holiday card and wondering whether the logo is still current.

LISI creates custom holiday greetings for law firms, giving your firm a polished way to connect with clients, colleagues, and referral sources without adding another project to your year-end workload.

Prospective clients do not visit an attorney bio to admire a chronological list of credentials.

They are looking for evidence. Has this attorney handled matters like mine? Do they understand my industry? Can I trust them with this problem? Education, admissions, clerkships, and affiliations belong on the page. But they should not bury the information a prospective client needs most.

Lead with the attorney’s focus, clients, and relevant experience. Then make the credentials easy to find. And review the bios as a group. When every attorney uses a different structure and voice, the firm’s message starts to feel fragmented. Read more: https://hubs.ly/Q04zYd3q0

Every practice group may deserve visibility.

That does not mean every practice group needs to compete for attention on your homepage.

Multiple taglines, rotating messages, and stacked value propositions often produce the opposite of clarity. Visitors leave without understanding what the firm wants to be known for.

Your homepage has a focused job: give the right visitor a clear reason to keep reading.

A law firm website budget should not begin with, “What does a redesign cost?”

Start with a better question: “What does the firm need the website to accomplish?”

A modern website supports business development, recruiting, thought leadership, client intake, analytics, and visibility in traditional and AI-driven search. Those priorities determine the scope and the investment.

Before requesting budget approval, evaluate the current site, document its limitations, and connect the proposed improvements to the firm’s business goals.

Does your law firm own its website?

The answer may be less obvious than it sounds.

With some proprietary content management systems, the vendor controls the platform, code, templates, and functionality. If the firm wants to change providers, it may discover that the website cannot come along.

That is more than vendor frustration. It is a business continuity and ownership issue.

Before your next redesign or platform renewal, ask what the firm owns, what it can change, and what happens if the vendor relationship ends.

A law firm website project can be a big deal for your firm. Not only is your website one of the most important assets of your firm, the project itself can be a huge undertaking on your internal team. One of the best ways that we have found to lighten the load is to begin by asking the right questions.

Not questions about color, or font size - but about the goals of your website and how it can better serve your clients and prospects.

Rae Ritter talks about this in 10 Questions Your Law Firm Should Answer Before Starting a Website Project. Check it out here:

Your law firm’s hosting bill may look like a technology expense. The consequences are operational.

A slow website can waste campaign spend. A broken form can interrupt intake. A missing notification can cost the firm a qualified lead.

Hosting is the infrastructure behind your website’s performance, security, and reliability. It deserves more attention than the lowest monthly price.

Learn what law firms should expect from their hosting and when it may be time to upgrade:

Your law firm’s homepage looks polished.

But what happens when a prospective client clicks on an attorney bio, practice page, or older article?

One inconsistent page can raise questions the homepage worked hard to answer.

A strong website should build trust throughout the entire visitor journey, not only at the front door.

See where the “homepage halo” can hide deeper problems, then review your firm’s website with fresh eyes:
