She brought a friend on Bring Your Daughter to Work day at Positive Wiring, Electrical & Structured Cabling, LLC, where they made jewelry for her startup business. And Lucy's July lemonade stand (don't miss the sweet signs) made $205 gross margin!

What a pleasure to join in a celebration of the Marquis de Lafayette thrown by The American Friends of Lafayette at historic
Carpenters' Hall in Philadelphia last month. Lafayette was, of course, the French aristocrat and military officer who fought in the Continental Army during the American Revolution and became a key ally of Gen. George Washington.

Carpenters’ Hall, the meeting place of the First Continental Congress in 1774, also welcomed Lafayette during both the 18th and 19th centuries.

Lafayette himself made an appearance, and historian Mike Teti guided an exclusive tour of the rarely-seen second floor.

Thanks to Trinity Episcopal Church of Blue Bell for hosting a banquet for all of the contractors and project managers who partnered to complete their renovation. My son Jack, who helped finish detailed lighting and sound wiring as part of our team, explains all the details to his siblings.

At Positive Wiring, we pride ourselves on meticulous workmanship, bringing complicated, messy, outdated wiring into a highly functional, updated thing of beauty. Check out apprentice technician Alexis Donnon’s recent rack work—she fusion-spliced a 12-strand OM3 fiber optic cable with LC connectors, and installed it in a fiber optic tray between floors in a Center City high-rise, connecting the MDF up to the IDF closet.

Over the years, I’ve found a niche working with beautiful old churches and houses of worship—many with outdated lighting and wiring systems. Thick stone walls often make installations challenging, but we’ve developed smart, low-impact solutions. My journey into this work began as a young journeyman, leading a unique project at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. That experience sparked lasting relationships with churches throughout the region.

As an apprentice, many years before, I ran a small residential business and was fortunate to wire the first floor and kitchen of Al Tedesco’s home. Years later, during Hurricane Sandy, I temporarily connected a generator to his family home so he could continue cancer treatments during the power outage.

Now, in a full-circle moment, we’re working together again—Al is leading a project through Drexel University, where he’s a professor in the Department of Cinema and Television.

Reconnecting after all these years is a reminder that strong relationships often outlast the work itself—and that’s something I deeply value.

When clients become friends, the partnership and the joy it brings to your work, networking, and your life are immeasurable.

In 2021, we installed telecommunications and security network wiring at Braid Mill's gorgeous Germantown space--a 40,000-square-foot former textile factory reimagined as a collaborative space for entrepreneurs, creatives, small businesses, and non-profits. Later, they asked us to return to help with additional electrical work. And in the process, we became friends with co-founders Seth Shipon and Matt Shipon.

We loved the people, the building, and the vibe so much that we filmed our Positive Wiring, Electrical & Structured Cabling, LLC promotional video there last year.

Last week, we were delighted to visit our Braid Mill friends as well as Eileen Kevany, James Corbett, Ryan Harbinson 🎮 🎲 Lisa Harrelson, DNP, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC, Jenn Christensen, and Robert Sullivan at the Northwest PHL Network gathering.
