Common Man Computer Service Computer support for small business and home users

06/04/2025

We knew 2025 was going to be turmoil ridden going into the year.

CMCS is ending. I am working on what comes nex.

CellZ is changing hands, which could help grow and energize that business.

To be honest, and personalities aside (I know who I am, and the sins I need to fix to properly move on. We can talk about that later, and probably will. Possibly over a whiskey from the new SAS Liquor so going in next to the new gas station at the light on 35 and old Business 35.)...

Ahem.

Personalities aside, both business models are challenging in the local markets. CMCS has fallen into stupor, and CellZ needed someone that could dedicate themselves to building sales and community. CMCS is not sure whether a computer shop in the old model is still viable.

Another conversation to have.

Until clarity rears its brilliantly obvious head, I, Will, intend to keep the lights on and the door open under my personal name for those needing computer or small device help..

Yes, I have taken hits to my reputation and trustworthiness, and am willing to address those issues.

Time marches on.

We will be closed today, Monday Jan 27.

Alright folks, this is it.

Time to say goodbye to 2024.

It is time to day goodbye to a lot of things. No, 2025 will not be a easy year, and for the first time ever you will hear or see me say "It is what it is" and mean it. It is truly what it is, and like any other storm it is time to hunker down and take care of what is important.

For this shop, what is important is you - our customer base and those that entrust us to be experts at what we do. If you need a point of certainty then this is what we can offer to you:

We will, during the year of 2025 and beyond, strive to improve daily and to extend the services we can offer the people of Brazoria county.

That is our "Oath of the Moment".

To reset and begin the New Year, CMCS will be closed Jan 1st, 2025. We will be open again bright and early Jan 2, 2025.

Happy New Year's!

-Will

Hi folks!

The new year is it time for renewal. And that's how this company is going to treat 2025.

Over the month of January will be transitioning ownership, and offering new services for the Brazoria County area. If you follow Will on his personal page, you'll find out more on the personal side, but on the professional side we have had to make a choice.

That choice is to continue.

Stay tuned folks.

Programming note - we are closed today, Dec 26th to enjoy family time.

We may be closing for Jan 1 through Jan 6th for reset and remodeling. More on that particular news the next few days.

Changes can be a good thing. Even when the reasons for those changes are intensely painful.

Between now and the first of the year, we will be announcing the changes happening here at Common Man Computer Service.

But since it's been rough for everybody for a while now, we'll start with something light and fluffy. This is Katsu, our new Customer Service Representative. Now he is looking for his own apartment, but he is putting in the hours trying to make sure that our service is unparalleled.

As soon as he learns that miniatures and wires are not food, the better!

Stay tuned folks!

Good morning all, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Things have not been going well recently here, and changes are coming. We will make a big announcement the Monday after Thanksgiving about the business, the future, and what we expect to happen over the near and long term.

Happy Thanksgiving to all, and be safe out there.

Good afternoon all!

I stopped at the FEMA location at the West Columbia Civic Center this morning to ask for information. Here is what I got:

1. If you have property or structure damage, including driveways.
2. If your car was damaged AND you have at the very least the basic required liability insurance.
3. If your home was out of power for longer than three days and you lost the food in the fridge.

There are more ways to qualify for help.

The very nice and helpful lady at the registration desk said that they do not have a time of completion for the center. They will be open 7am til 7pm until no longer needed by the community. That said, if you need help or have damage - go register to see what is available. Especially the food replacement help. Even help with damage to your car - as long as you have some kind of insurance you can get help.

What was the old lesson we were all told if we grew up around here? "God helps those who helps themselves." Well if you believe that, then the act of asking for help is all He needs to start the ball rolling for you.

If you are faithless like me, just remember that nothing can happen until you take the first step, and the worst they can do is say "no".

West Columbia Civic Center is between the City Hall and the West Columbia Library, behind Prosperity Bank and the Ladybug Boutique. 7a to 7p until the job is done.

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Day two of the cleanup. How are you doing?

We are still open for cooling and charging and gaming if you need a fresh charge on the phone, a chance to get out of the heat, or a few moments of distraction.

Most importantly, we ask that y'all look out for each other. A quick question and a offered bottle of water can save someone from heat exhaustion or worse. Please watch out for your neighbors as they work to clean up their damage, and I hope they are doing the same for you.

Sweeny, West Columbia, Wild Peach, Lake Jackson - we are all Texans. We will prevail.

Let us know how we can help.

Good morning all!

Common Man Computer Service and CellZ Hobbies in West Columbia is open for free charging and internet service through our WiFi. The AC ain't great, but it is cooler inside than out at the moment.

We are also offering free diagnostics, reduced data recovery pricing, and CellZ is offering to teach any game we have in stock so that the kiddoes, and the adults as well, have something to do while we get the area set back to rights.

All three of us live in Sweeny, and only one so far has power back at the house. We understand the trouble everyone is going through, and there is no shame in getting help - especially when that help is freely offered.
