A general theme has recently emerged in our social dialogue regarding an "entitlement society". I have seen this first hand. . .
Entitlement is throwing garbage on a football field, and then cheering when a superior athlete than yourself, a harder worker than yourself, and a finer physical specimen than yourself goes down with an injury, even after he worked hard all week and gets up early physically pushing himself to the limit nearly year round, just for your satisfaction.
Entitlement, is calling the President of the United States, who was in charge of the Harvard Law review, whose intellectual abilities would squash yours like a slug, "Dumb". Who has risen to the top in several aspects of life through god given gifts and hard work, while you stick "LOL" stickers on your over-sized, over-priced european SUVs as if you have any inkling of a clue of what it took to get there, or what it takes to run a nation.
Entitlement is saying we should "Bomb the s**t" out of other nations, where people you have never met may lose their family members and their own lives, along with your next door neighbors kids, b/c you play call of duty and watched too many war movies, and have no true perception of what war, armed conflict, or foreign policy truly entails.
Entitlement is dressing up your little weak-bodied frame in name-brand designer clothes that mean NOTHING. Flashing any particle of material you possibly can in an effort to illustrate your "wealth", when in reality all that you are doing is desperately trying to conceal the fact that you are weak, small, and hollow inside, where it really matters.
Entitlement is thinking the little hole in the wall club you run, or the little self-reinforcing VIP clique you run with makes you some kind of bonafide "celebrity" even as you have created nothing, you have contributed nothing, you have built nothing. All you have done is do what the most basic piece of scum can do, get drunk and have s*x.
Entitlement is the fact that you have not been born with any unique talent, and have made no effort to carve out your piece of society by starting a business, helping other people, finding a cause, getting yourself adequately educated, or working particularly hard, yet you point and critique what highly successful people have attained all day long, and you mock those who are actually making an effort.
Entitlement is thinking you "know" things, because you form idiotic opinions based on the idiotic statements of other idiots, without ever truly participating in any meaningful study of history, economics, law, public policy, science, philosophy, or anything of the sort.
Entitlement is rolling your eyes and complaining that a waiter or waitress's service is not fast enough, even as you have altered the menu to your own horrible taste so badly that the person cannot possibly be able to get it right in the time frame you have allotted them. Then you "flex" your atrophied and weak muscle by providing a less than customary tip, and feel empowered by doing so.
Entitlement is holding people to a different moral standard than you hold yourself, simply because you have infringed on the moral code in a way that you deem "ok" and what they do is not "approved of" by your under-exposed, and ignorant lifestyle or mind.
We certainly do live in this "entitlement society". We can see entitled little brats everywhere we look. . .
