If you have priced new computers lately, you probably noticed that they have gone up quite a bit. As a computer retailer, we sure have. If a new computer is not in the budget right now, and you just need something for basic use (Internet, printing, etc.), maybe you could use one of these -

Used Dell Optiplex desktops - these computers are still in good shape but would not upgrade to Windows 11. We have replaced the HDD with an SSD (250GB) and loaded them with Linux Mint. Features Firefox web browser, Libre Office (Documents, Spreadsheets, etc.). Linux Mint is compatible with most current printers. Comes with i7 processor and 8GB RAM. Great for casual use and Internet. Price $150 each

We have a limited supply of used computers that are in good working order, but they could not support Windows 11. As an alternative, we have loaded them with a Linux Mint operating system, which has a similar look and feel like Windows. The computers come with Core i7 processors, 8GB RAM, and 240-250GB SSD. Each installation includes Mozilla Firefox for web browsing and Libre Office for document creation and sharing.
Perfect for browsing, online shopping, and most anything that is browser-based. Linux Mint also supports most current model printers.
Cost for these start at $150 each.

UPDATE - Thursday, January 29th
While road conditions have improved, there is still a lot of damage to deal with. Many homes and businesses remain without power, phones and Internet. Hopefully, much of that will be resolved this weekend.
With that in mind, WinterSmith Computers will remain closed through tomorrow, as we too are dealing with these issues.

While the weather conditions are improving, our shop is closed again today, Wednesday, January 28. We have no phones or Internet.
