It is not just governments, so are criminals and corporations. AI driven pricing, surge pricing, insurance rate hikes based on watching our internet habits are outcomes that result in tangible hits to our wallets.

The Hardenstance report on telcos (primarily T1 and T2) spending on consumer cybersecurity is out. Thanks for putting this together!

Some key points:

👉 Telcos worldwide spent $441M in 2025 on consumer cybersecurity with spend projected to grow at a 6.5% CAGR

👉 68% of the spend was on endpoint security software, 23% on network based security (primarily DNS) and 9% on router based security

👉 Cumulatively over the last 3 years, telcos have signed more contracts for DNS security than they have for endpoint security and home router based security agents put together.

👉 Scams and AI based threats represent key additional pain points for consumers.

Large telcos are increasing their spend towards cybersecurity to protect the consumer experience and also generate new revenue streams. The full report is here:
