The FBI just issued an urgent warning about a new Microsoft 365 attack called Kali365.
Here's why it matters for your business — and why MFA alone won't save you.

Kali365 is a Phishing-as-a-Service platform. That means criminals can subscribe to it like a SaaS tool — for about $250/month — and run sophisticated attacks against your Microsoft 365 environment without any technical skills.

Here's what makes it dangerous:
🔴 It doesn't steal your password
🔴 It doesn't need to beat your MFA
🔴 It captures your OAuth token instead — and walks straight in

Here's how it works in plain English:
1️⃣ You get an email that looks like it's from Microsoft or a document-sharing platform
2️⃣ It asks you to visit a real Microsoft page and enter a short device code
3️⃣ You do — because the page is legitimate and looks completely normal
4️⃣ The attacker captures your OAuth token in the background
5️⃣ They now have full persistent access to your Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive — no password required, no MFA prompt, ever again

This is device code phishing. And it's already hitting businesses in manufacturing, healthcare, finance, and professional services.

The fix isn't complicated — but it has to be configured:
✅ Create a conditional access policy to block device code flow
✅ Audit your existing device code flow usage first
✅ Block authentication transfer between devices
✅ Review active sessions for unauthorized devices right now

It's a productivity platform with security features — and there's a significant difference.
When you buy an M365 license, here's what you get by default:

❌ Legacy authentication protocols: on
❌ External email forwarding: unrestricted
❌ Admin accounts: no extra protection
❌ Audit logging: limited or disabled

Microsoft gives you the tools. They don't configure them for you.

Most business owners have heard of DMARC.

Very few know what it actually does — or what it looks like when it’s working.

Here’s the short version:
DMARC is an email authentication protocol. It tells receiving mail servers what to do when someone tries to send email pretending to be you.

There are three settings:
📋 p=none — Monitor only. You see the data, nothing gets blocked. Good starting point, bad ending point.
🚧 p=quarantine — Suspicious emails go to spam. Better, but spoofed mail still gets through.
🔒 p=reject — Anything that fails authentication gets blocked outright. This is enforcement. This is where you want to be.

Most small businesses in CT and NY are sitting at p=none — or have no DMARC record at all.

That means anyone can send an email that looks like it came from your domain. To your clients. To your vendors. To your bank.

We moved a Fairfield County professional services firm from zero to p=reject in 90 days — alongside Huntress SAT phishing training that dropped their staff click rate by 60%+.

Here’s what we found when we started:
❌ No DMARC policy in place
❌ SPF record had legacy includes the client didn’t know existed
❌ Zero phishing awareness training — ever

90 days later:
✅ DMARC at full enforcement (p=reject)
✅ KnowBe4 phishing simulation program live and running
