This restoration was done as a memorial for Sedgwick County Deputy Robert Kunze who was killed in the line of duty. He had bought the car with the intention of restoring it with his daughter. After he was killed, a group took the project on and recently presented the fully restored GTO to his daughter. This was an impressive project that took a very dedicated group, with a lot of fortitude, to get it to the finish line. The Radio Shop was proud to be a small part helping to get this done.

This car caught my eye sitting in a garage not long after I moved to Wichita in the ‘90’s. I always felt like there might be a cool back story to it and that proved to be true when I had the privilege of meeting the owner about 5 years ago. It turned out Harry bought this car brand new and has owned it ever since.

He stops into the shop occasionally and I pretty much always ask about his ‘57. He hadn’t gotten it out for quite a few months but he made a point of stopping by when he did get it out recently. It’s a cool to shift gears for a few minutes and listen to a story or two from Harry’s life when he stops by the shop.

We don’t always get to work on boosted vehicles here at The Radio Shop but when we do it’s cool when they have a Whipple Supercharger doing the boosting! Ford claims this thing is cranking out 755 horsepower. Who out there has ran a boosted, high performance vehicle?
