BREAKING: STAR TREK has lost one of its greatest legends. Sir Patrick Stewart

The beloved actor who brought Captain Jean-Luc Picard to life, has passed away at the age of 86, marking the end of an extraordinary career that helped shape science fiction history.

Stewart first stepped onto the bridge of the Enterprise in 1987 with STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, portraying a captain whose intelligence, compassion and quiet authority made him one of television's most unforgettable characters.

His career extended far beyond STAR TREK, from decades of Shakespearean theater to playing Professor Charles Xavier in the X-MEN franchise. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2010 for his remarkable contributions to drama.

His passing was announced on October 29, with his family confirming that he died the previous day following a battle with Alzheimer's disease and Lewy body dementia. Just three years earlier, he had reunited with his beloved Enterprise crew for the final season of STAR TREK: PICARD, giving his legendary character one last adventure.

For nearly four decades, Patrick Stewart made Captain Picard a symbol of wisdom, courage and humanity. The actor may be gone, but his voice, unforgettable performances and the generations he inspired will remain part of STAR TREK forever. The Enterprise has lost its captain, but his legacy will never fade.
