Most business owners don’t switch IT companies because of one catastrophic failure.

It’s usually the slow buildup of frustration:

• Repeating the same issues over and over
• Waiting too long for support
• Feeling pressured into upgrades
• Never really knowing what your IT provider is doing behind the scenes
• Realizing your cybersecurity tools were “installed” but never truly managed

We just published a new article breaking down the 8 most common frustrations Wilmington-area businesses have with their current IT company — and what a real managed IT partnership should actually look like.

If you’ve been questioning whether your current IT relationship is working the way it should, this may hit close to home.

Most businesses don’t realize this…

A new IT relationship is won or lost in the first 90 days.

We just published a new blog breaking down what should happen during that critical onboarding window — and where things often go wrong.

If you’ve ever:

Switched IT providers
Considered making a change
Wondered why nothing improved after onboarding

This is for you.

Because IT support shouldn’t feel uncertain after day one…

It should feel structured, proactive, and improving immediately.

I just got back from a Sales and Marketing Conference — not an IT event, but a room full of general business owners and leaders. AI was everywhere. Vendors were demoing automation tools. Sessions covered using agents like Claude to build internal workflows and marketing content.

Three full days. Not a single conversation about AI security.

That concerns me.

Here's what I want business owners and managers to understand:

AI itself is not dangerous. You should absolutely be exploring how to bring it into your business — the efficiency gains are real, and falling behind isn't an option.

But the way you deploy and configure AI? That part carries serious risk.

If your business has compliance requirements or operates in a regulated industry, a misconfigured AI implementation isn't just an IT problem — it could be catastrophic. Data exposure, regulatory violations, and liability don't care how good your intentions were.

The good news: secure AI deployment isn't out of reach. It just requires intentionality.

Not all IT providers in Wilmington are the same — but most of their websites make them sound like it.

We put together a guide covering the six things local business owners should actually evaluate before signing an IT support contract: who works your tickets, whether they're really local, how they handle security, pricing transparency, contract structure, and industry experience.

We also cover the Wilmington-specific factors most guides skip — hurricane preparedness, coastal infrastructure, and multi-site connectivity.

Most people think AI is all about the tool.

ChatGPT.
Copilot.
Claude.

But the real skill isn’t the tool…

It’s the prompt.

The difference between a mediocre AI answer and an incredibly useful one usually comes down to how you ask the question.

In this short clip, I talk about one of the biggest things people misunderstand when using AI — and how a small change in your prompting can dramatically improve the results.

As AI becomes part of everyday business workflows, learning how to communicate with AI effectively will become a real professional skill.

𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗜𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱.

Antivirus alone isn’t protection.

Real cybersecurity means:
• 24/7 monitoring
• Layered defense
• Proactive threat response
• Reliable backups

If your IT company only shows up after something breaks, that’s not protection — that’s cleanup.

Security should be constant, managed, and intentional.

If you’re not sure which one you have, let’s talk.

𝗕𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝗧 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗽 𝗬𝗼𝘂.

If your IT company doesn’t perform…
Can you leave?

You’d be surprised how many businesses are locked into 2–3 year agreements with:

• No meaningful cancellation clause
• Heavy termination penalties
• Auto-renewal language buried in fine print
• 60–90 day notice windows that are easy to miss

Here’s the problem:

When an IT provider knows you can’t leave…
Their incentive to deliver exceptional service drops.

Performance should be earned every month — not enforced by legal handcuffs.

Before signing (or renewing) an IT agreement, ask:

✔️ What happens if service levels aren’t met?
✔️ Is there a reasonable out clause?
✔️ When does the contract renew?
✔️ How much notice is required to cancel?
✔️ Are there auto-renewal terms?

Put the renewal date on your calendar. Seriously.
Many businesses miss the window and get locked in for another year without realizing it.

A good IT partner should be confident enough in their service that they don’t need to trap you.

Healthy partnerships are built on performance, trust, and accountability — not fine print.

If you’re unsure about your current agreement, it may be worth reviewing it before the next renewal cycle.
