Why Zip Code? Because launching a new career impacts a community.

A household gains financial stability. A company gains a skilled hire. A neighborhood gains additional resources supported by the increased tax base.

We trained our graduates for new careers and we built of pipeline of tech talent for Delaware employers in order to support the economic viability of our community.

There is a lot to celebrate as Zip Code Wilmington prepares for what comes next.

After seven years leading Zip Code, Desa Burton will step down as executive director and head of school on Oct. 2. During that time, she has helped Zip Code grow, strengthened our connections across Delaware and helped hundreds of adult learners prepare for new careers and opportunities.

And while we’ll miss having Desa at the helm, we’re happy to share that a familiar face will be stepping into the role.

Gloria Bell, our current director of operations, will become interim executive director and head of school. Gloria knows Zip Code, knows our community and brings years of experience in technology, education and entrepreneurship to the role.

We’re incredibly grateful to Desa for seven years of leadership, and we’re excited to cheer on Gloria as she takes this next step.

There’s more ahead for Zip Code, and we’re looking forward to it.
