Security Alert - We were just alerted that hackers are using residential and small business Internet Routers/Modems to redirect Internet traffic to malicious websites. Please make sure your router is no more than 5 years old and has the latest firmware installed on it.

Our business customers who use our Fortigate next gen security appliance as a service are already fully patched and protected from this known threat.

MCS has been extremely busy helping our customers setup and secure remote access for their employees. As the IT landscape is changing, please be aware of these things:

1 - Don't ever take a phone call from people you don't know who want to help you fix your computer.

2 - You'll likely start seeing a flood of phishing emails trying to get you to click on links and or asking you for information. Best rule of thumb, if you have any doubts, call the person to verify the email.

3 - It is more important than ever to separate business computers from personal computing. Only use business computers for business related web surfing and try not to click on too many random search results.

Keep these in mind as you'll see many criminals trying to take advantage of this trying situation we are all facing. The best defense is you following these best practices, keep your windows and programs up-to-date, and have a well configured security software (preferably next gen security software).

If you are a resident and want to ensure you are safe and protected, please call our office and talk to one of our techs who can provide a free quick security survey to see if you are well protected.

As a courtesy to our community and friends, please call us anytime you have a question regarding security and we will be glad to help point you in the right direction. This goes for businesses and residents alike.

Take care and surf safely!

Starting today March 16, 2020, MCS will be taking new steps in safeguarding our employees and walk-in customers. MCS has decided to help limit the exposure of our employees and customers by closing our walk-in shop and making our repair shop only available by appointment only. This allows us to keep our interaction with our customers minimal so we can prepare our work orders and exchange information over the phone and still allow our customers the ability to drop off their equipment. We also see the benefit of our customers are not waiting next to each other in our waiting area. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. 503-980-1026 Thank you.

MCS has been taking extra precautions to keep our staff and customers safe. If you need any consultation or estimates on making your office a secure remote office for some of your employees, please contact us to help you out. We have many different options that may fit your budget and security needs.

Security Alert January 14, 2020

As many of you may have heard, Microsoft recently released a patch to fix a significant vulnerability. For those of you who are our contracted managed IT customers, you don't need to worry about the patch as we will be patching it as soon as it has gone through our process/testing period and be assured your managed computer/laptop uses our enterprise security software that helps prevent new vulnerabilities called Zero Day Threats.

Regardless of this security issue, we always recommend being cautious of following links in an email to download any programs or installing any programs that are not downloaded directly from the vendor.

If you have any questions about this security issue or how you can be protected along with all of our managed IT customers, please reach out to our staff. We're always happy to help you!
