Windows 10 version 2004 removes Advanced Update deferral options
June 24, 2020 by Maya Pal
Windows 10 version 2004 feature update, which was released to consumers and enterprises last month, may lack update deferral options in the Settings. Microsoft says this change is intentional as the company is simplifying Windows Update experience on Windows 10.

Windows 10’s Advanced Update options allowed users and administrators to defer feature updates to block Windows 10 feature updates installation on devices that they manage.

This ‘issue’ was flagged by Windows Insiders and administrators in the Feedback Hub. And today, I noticed that Microsoft has quietly updated its documentation to confirm the reports:

Last year, we changed update installation policies for Windows 10 to only target devices running a feature update version that is nearing end of service. As a result, many devices are only updating once a year. To enable all devices to make the most of this policy change, and to prevent confusion, we have removed deferrals from the Windows Update settings Advanced Options page starting on Windows 10, version 2004. If you wish to continue leveraging deferrals, you can use local Group Policy (Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Windows Update for Business > Select when Preview builds and Feature Updates are received or Select when Quality Updates are received).

COVID-19😷😷😷😷 UPDATE

From JNDS Computer SALES.

As NYS Mid-Hudson region entered Phase 1 of re-opening,
Please be advised we are doing everything in our power to keep our clients and worker(s) safe during the ongoing Corona virus outbreak.
At this time we will be evaluating the possibility of in-home or on-job site services on a case by case basis until further notice. If the service call meets certain guidelines then it maybe possible to perform theses tasks.

We are currently in the ongoing process of screening our staff for the COVID-19 antibodies or if they are currently positive for this disease and adjusting accordingly. Additionally our clients may need to assure certain guarantees that they themselves have not been exposed of currently infected.

Those that we have remote service with, you will see no service interruptions unless there is a power outage on location.
In this case and if we have configured your system to return to a powered state before the power loss, as long as your system has not been corrupted or crashed in most cases we can remotely get your systems back up for you and log you in remotely again.

Please heed those that have advised you to keep social distance to protect your love ones and those that are vulnerable, and Wear a Mask

Keep Family and Loved ones Healthy and Safe-
