Aria Ear Azuri: Fast, Open, Uncompromising

DISCLAIMER: The Aria Ear AZURI was purchased directly from Aria EAR at a discounted price for review purposes. We at Aural CafĂŠ would like to thank the Aria EAR team for this opportunity and their support to Aural CafĂŠ.

Introduction: -
Today at Aural Cafe, we’re excited to present an in-depth review of the Azuri, a single dynamic driver-based debut IEM from the Vietnam-based young hi-fi brand Aria EAR. The Azuri features a 10 mm 10mm Lithium-Magnesium diaphragm dynamic driver implemented with the help of Aria Ear Proprietary Tech.
The Aria EAR Azuri marks the debut release from the Hanoi, Vietnam–based hi-fi brand Aria EAR, operating under ARIA EAR Joint Stock Company. Founded in early 2023 by passionate audiophiles Huy Phan, Ha Nguyen, and Nam, the team clearly set out to make a strong first impression with the Azuri. Guided by a strong focus on balancing technical precision with musicality, Aria EAR aims to craft IEMs that blend clarity with emotional depth through refined engineering. Their overarching goal is to deliver a sound that captures micro-details with accuracy while preserving the natural richness and texture of music. Despite its $130 price point, the Azuri reflects extensive research and development, with over two years dedicated to its creation. At its core is a single 10mm lithium–magnesium diaphragm dynamic driver, a dynamic driver that has also been featured in more expensive IEMs, such as the Dita Mecha. Known for its exceptional lightness and rigidity, the Li-Mg alloy enables rapid transient response along with natural damping, minimising unwanted vibrations for a clean and controlled presentation. The result is crisp, detailed highs and high sensitivity, allowing the Azuri to perform effortlessly across the frequency range while delivering an engaging and immersive listening experience.
But all said, the pure metal lithium magnesium diaphragm is exceptionally fast, making tuning it more demanding and challenging, as such speed requires highly precise acoustic control. To address this, Aria EAR employs its proprietary Ribbon Waveguide System alongside a dual Helmholtz system, enabling Azuri to deliver outstanding clarity and speed with effortless stability. The rear waveguide tech is implemented primarily to absorb unwanted resonances and regulate air pressure on the rear side of the Azuri, resulting in a cleaner and more stable sound presentation. This innovative approach, as per the Aria EAR team, not only improves overall tonal accuracy but also enhances spatial rendering, allowing for a wider stage and more precise imaging, ultimately creating a surprisingly holographic presentation from a compact in-ear monitor. The Dual Helmholtz Resonance system makes its debut within Azuri to present a natural high which we rarely experience from an IEM in this price range Azuri integrates a dual Helmholtz resonance chamber to precisely tuned the 5 kHz to 6.2 kHz range of treble where most of the harshness and shoutiness occurs This advanced acoustic system suppresses unwanted resonances that often mask upper-frequency detail, allowing upper treble not only to shine but shine with natural brilliance. The result is crisp, airy sound with sparkle and openness, without any hint of fatigue or harshness.
Driven by a relentless pursuit of precision, the Aria EAR team has partnered with an industry-leading 3D printing service provider that utilises cutting-edge machinery and technology. This collaboration enables the Aria EAR team to craft and integrate ultra-thin acoustic tubes measuring as little as 0.02 mm within the Azuri with exceptional accuracy. Leveraging high-precision industrial 3D printing, Aria EAR has been able to optimise the internal micro-acoustic architecture, which plays a critical role in overall driver performance. This goes beyond just frequency response, extending to improvements in decay behaviour, transient response, and effective resonance control. The story of Azuri’s intriguing internals doesn’t end there, as it also incorporates next-generation metallic damping materials designed to control high-frequency resonance and distortion. This approach, as per the Aria EAR team, addresses the limitations of traditional dampers like foam or mesh, which can degrade and lose consistency over time. Unlike conventional solutions that often dull brightness and detail, this advanced damping technology preserves clarity and the natural tonality of the sound, ensuring a refined listening experience that remains consistent for years to come.
Aria Ear Azuri retails for 130 USD in the global market.

Unboxing Experience, Design & Build: -
As seen in our unboxing video (https://youtube.com/shorts/RuDluxsCS6g?feature=share), the Aria EAR Azuri arrives in a fairly large, rectangular jet-black cardboard box, wrapped in a sleek black paper sleeve. The front of the sleeve prominently showcases the Azuri’s elegant faceplate along with a glimpse of its shell design. At the centre, it highlights the single dynamic driver configuration and hints at the tuning focus of the IEM. The ARIA EAR branding is placed at the top in clean white fonts, accompanied by a logo that appears to be inspired by a yacht diving through the ocean, symbolic of Aria Ear's maiden voyage into the challenging waters of the hi-fi in-ear monitor. The model name “AZURI” is positioned boldly in the lower centre in a subtle grey tone, alongside the driver specification: a 10mm lithium–magnesium diaphragm dynamic driver. On the right edge of the box, a QR code directs users to the official Aria EAR website. A nice touch is the inclusion of the Vietnam flag on the corner, emphasising that the Azuri is proudly designed and made in Vietnam. The left side of the sleeve provides a brief overview of Azuri’s technical aspects and sound philosophy, while the back panel includes detailed specifications along with a visual preview of the 10mm Li-Mg dynamic driver, as well as the parent company’s name and address. Removing the outer sleeve reveals a sleek, jet-black box with the ARIA EAR logo centred in crisp white fonts. On finally opening the box, the presentation feels thoughtfully arranged. The Azuri IEMs rest elegantly in the upper section along with the stock cable, while the lower compartment houses a finely crafted round leather carrying case. On opening the carry case, we came across a small black colour cleaning cloth. On keeping aside the carry case, we are finally welcomed by a transparent ear tips case which is filled with two different sets of silicone ear tips in standard SML size. Overall, the layout is thoughtfully executed with an emphasis on practicality and precision, free from unnecessary flair, and focused instead on functional design and quality accessories. The unboxing experience feels understated yet refined, reflecting Aria EAR’s commitment to delivering a true high-fidelity in-ear monitor rather than relying on flashy packaging or excess extras.
When it comes to design, the Aria EAR Azuri features black shells crafted from medical-grade resin using advanced 3D printing technology. Embracing the full potential of this process, Aria EAR has partnered with an industry-leading 3D printing specialist equipped with cutting-edge machinery. This collaboration has greatly refined their manufacturing capabilities, enabling highly precise and efficient production of complex acoustic structures. These carefully engineered internals play a vital role in shaping the sound, while also ensuring consistent build quality and strict quality control throughout the process. According to Aria EAR, this optimised structural design further enhances durability, allowing the Azuri shells to withstand impacts from heights of up to one meter while maintaining a sleek and refined profile. The meticulously crafted Azuri faceplate lives up to its name, showcasing a vivid sky that beautifully blends warm reds with deep, mystic blues, creating a dynamic interplay of colours. Each angle reveals shifting patterns that shimmer like twilight, giving the faceplate an artistic and captivating presence. The right faceplate displays the ARIA EAR branding, while the left showcases the brand’s logo resembling a yacht on its maiden voyage, both rendered in sleek silver accents. The model’s name, Azuri, can also be seen laser printed on the sides of each shell near the two pin sockets. We also noticed a small circular vent near the gold-plated nozzle on each Azuri shell, along with three additional vents arranged in a triangular pattern, which appear to be part of its Ribbon Waveguide system. When it comes to the cable, the Azuri is equipped with a 6N OCC (Ohno Continuous Cast) copper cable featuring gold-plated 0.78mm 2-pin connectors. This stock cable aims at minimising interference and ensuring clean signal transmission, thereby offering improved performance over standard OFC (oxygen-free copper) cables.
When it comes to build quality, the Azuri feels genuinely top-notch, thanks to its advanced 3D-printed construction. The resin shells come across as both durable and exceptionally lightweight, easily among the lightest IEMs we’ve encountered in recent times. Complementing this is the striking, vivid faceplate, which adds a strong artistic flair to the overall design language of the Azuri. We also like to add here that the Azuri features next-generation metallic damping materials to control high-frequency resonance and distortion, overcoming the inherent weaknesses of traditional dampers such as foam or mesh that tend to lose stability over time. Unlike conventional solutions that often diminish brightness and detail, as per the Aria EAR team, this technology preserves the full clarity and natural character of the sound, so an audiophile can enjoy extraordinary audio for many years to come. When it comes to the size of Azuri IEM shells, one would be surprised to know that the Azuri IEM shell design has undergone three major design changes in these two years of research and development. The final Azuri IEM shells, which we have in our hand are not only extremely light in weight but also provide a very comfortable fit and also provide solid passive isolation.
When it comes to the cable, as mentioned earlier, the Azuri comes equipped with a 6N OCC (Ohno Continuous Cast) copper cable featuring gold-plated 0.78mm 2-pin connectors and a 1.2-meter length. While our unit arrived with a 3.5 mm single-ended termination, users also have the option to choose a 4.4 mm balanced cable when placing their order. Built with OCC copper for clean and efficient signal transmission, the stock cable is impressively lightweight, with an ideal balance of thickness and flexibility, making it well-suited for everyday portable use. During our testing, we didn’t notice any significant microphonics, contributing to a smooth and distraction-free listening experience. When it comes to ear tips, the Azuri includes two sets of silicone tips in standard S, M, and L sizes, neatly stored in a transparent compact ear tips case. While both sets appear similar at first glance, a closer look reveals that the black-stem tips have a slightly wider bore compared to the blue-stem ones. We at Aural café feel that the black-stem tips should offer a more transparent top end with a neutral presentation, whereas the blue-stem tips should lean towards a more musical tuning with slightly fuller and firmer lows in comparison to the black-stem ear tips. As for the accessories, the Azuri comes with a cleaning cloth and a compact, well-crafted, functional, round shape leather carry case, with the Aria EAR branding and logo elegantly engraved on the top. The Aria EAR Azuri delivers an unboxing experience that is refined, purposeful, and free from unnecessary extravagance. Every element from the clean outer presentation to the neatly organised internal layout reflects a brand that prioritises substance over show. Instead of relying on flashy packaging, Aria EAR focuses on providing quality essentials, resulting in an experience that feels understated yet genuinely satisfying. Overall, Azuri presents itself as a thoughtfully designed IEM that balances practicality, durability, and comfort, all while maintaining a strong focus on acoustic precision and user experience.

Sound Analysis: -
We would like to clarify that our sound impressions of the Aria EAR Azuri are based on its use with stock blue-stem silicone ear tips and the stock 3.5 mm terminated cable, paired with a capable, neutral hi-fi source. Any changes in sound when switching to the stock black-stem ear tips have been discussed separately in the Synergy section, which we recommend referring to for a more complete understanding. We would also like to note that the unit was subjected to approximately 40 hours of burn-in, as recommended by the brand, allowing us to better experience the true potential of the Azuri as a debut release from the Aria EAR team.

• Tonality: - Aria EAR Azuri proudly exudes reference sound tonality where everything sounds like life and natural with lots of emotions, whether it’s the texture of the vocalist or the timbre of the musical instruments across the sound frequency. This kind of sound tonality is very revealing and will not sugarcoat your badly recorded soundtracks, so you make sure that you listen to high-quality recordings. Thanks to its highly capable 10 mm lithium-magnesium (Li-Mg) diaphragm dynamic driver and dual Helmholtz Resonance System, the overall sound presentation is both deeply engaging, immersive, and effortlessly spacious, which makes us forget whether we are listening to an IEM or an open-back headphone. The transient response is top-notch, which adds to the fun quotient of the Azuri, while the sound stage is decently holographic, all thanks to the ribbon waveguide systems. At Aural Cafe, we believe that one of the clearest indicators of a truly capable in-ear monitor is its ability to retrieve micro-details effortlessly at low volumes, just as it does at higher levels. We’re pleased to report that the Azuri delivers on this with remarkable ease. Azuri shows top-notch clarity across the sound frequency, due to which micro details are retrieved organically. Every part of the frequency, whether it’s the lows, mids or highs are given equal importance, with the highs being really special when we compare Azuri Highs with other iems in this price range. The bass is precisely boosted, keeping in mind the reference sound tonality, while the mids are slightly flat with top-notch texture. Instead of coming up with another V-shaped IEM or Harman-style sound tuning, we loved the way the Aria Ear has tuned the Azuri to present a sound tonality that can go with most genres of soundtracks. Keep shuffling between different genres, and Azuri, just like its vivid faceplate, will surprise you with its vivid colours. Although we at Aural Cafe believe that Azuri can handle any genre with absolute ease, we loved listening to Western classical and progressive soundtracks such as Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd and Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin.

• Lows: - The low-end on the Azuri is tuned with precision, staying true to its reference-oriented character. It sits well within its range, offering a satisfying sense of presence and slam without ever becoming intrusive. In line with its tuning, the sub-bass delivers a respectable amount of rumble, though we at Aural Cafe wouldn’t have minded a touch more, purely as a matter of personal preference. We’d also like to note that a deeper insertion noticeably enhances sub-bass presence on the Azuri. Moving into the mid-bass, it remains tight and engaging, showcasing excellent dynamics largely due to the Azuri’s very efficient 10 mm Lithium-Magnesium alloy diaphragm dynamic driver and solid implementation of the ribbon waveguide system. The transient response of Azuri is top-tier, which makes the low-end presentation feel more immersive and livelier. While the mid-bass punch isn’t overly aggressive, it carries enough impact and definition to keep EDM tracks enjoyable and energetic. When it comes to us, we at Aural Cafe just loved listening to “Bury a friend” by Billie Eilish with Azuri at the helm because of its lovely immersive lows showcasing top-notch transient response. When it comes to timbre of the instruments in Lows, we at Aural Cafe just loved the way the Azuri presented the bass guitar with full authority while listening to Billie Jean by Michael Jackson.

• Mids: - The midrange is undoubtedly Azuri’s strongest suit. It features a slightly flat midrange presentation, something we at Aural Cafe truly appreciate. The mids are positioned with remarkable precision, maintaining perfect balance without ever sounding recessed or overly forward. Vocals come through with exceptional clarity, retaining a raw, natural, and soulful character Both male and female vocals exhibit excellent texture and emotional depth, though we at Aural Cafe were particularly drawn to the Azuri’s raw and immersive presentation of female vocals which we thoroughly enjoyed while listening to “White Flag” by Dido and “Neon Moon” by Ci******es After S*x. It’s worth adding here that such a refined and immersive vocal presentation is rarely encountered from an IEM at this price point. The Azuri delivers vocals with a sense of realism and openness reminiscent of full-sized headphones. When it comes to note weight, the note weight is satisfactory, taking the price of Azuri into consideration. What further impresses us is the stability of the lower mids, combined with smooth, engaging upper mids that maintain clarity without ever becoming harsh or fatiguing. Thanks to the dual Helmholtz system, the upper midrange remains buttery smooth, free from any hint of shoutiness, which we thoroughly enjoyed and experienced while listening to “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. The timbre of the string instruments, such as acoustic guitar, violin and sitar, showcase real life like timbre.

• Highs: - The way the Azuri presents its highs truly sets it apart. Thanks to the thoughtful implementation of the ribbon waveguide system and dual Helmholtz resonance system, the treble comes across as effortlessly open and spacious, something rarely experienced from an IEM at this price point. It delivers an impressive sense of air and openness, more akin to what we typically hear from higher-end IEMs and open-back headphones. The overall presentation remains smooth, refined, and immersive, without any hint of harshness, making the Azuri exceptionally enjoyable during long listening sessions. What truly stands out is the treble’s organic and emotive character, avoiding the dry or sterile Highs often found in similarly priced IEMs. The upper treble stays airy and smooth, with a pleasing sense of body. Additionally, Azuri’s excellent transient response adds to the realism of string instruments and cymbals, allowing them to sound more natural, lively, and engaging, something we thoroughly enjoyed while listening to “Californication” by Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

• Soundstage & Imaging: - When it comes to soundstage, the Azuri delivers a holographic presentation, with slightly better soundstage width in comparison to soundstage depth. Thanks to the ribbon waveguide system, Azuri creates a uniquely open, spacious, yet immersive stage, something we thoroughly enjoyed while listening to “Kashmir” by Led Zeppelin. What truly stands out is its ability to adapt its presentation across tracks. On one, it places you right in the middle of a live performance; on another, it transports you into the intimacy of a recording studio. At Aural Cafe, we typically associate this level of versatility with high-end professional monitoring IEMs and headphones. Azuri’s imaging capability is equally impressive, effortless, and top-tier. It renders instruments and vocals with precise, convincing placement, making it an excellent choice for audiophiles seeking an IEM suited for monitoring purposes. The separation between instruments is quite decent, which really aids while listening to the complex metal rock genre of soundtracks.

• Synergy: - The Aria EAR Azuri is equipped with a single 10 mm lithium-magnesium alloy diaphragm dynamic driver that scales impressively with a capable hi-fi source. While it is fairly sensitive and can be driven easily by a dongle, we at Aural Cafe strongly recommend pairing it with a true hi-fi source to experience the vivid colours of Azuri. When it comes to stock ear tips, we preferred the blue stem variant for its punchier and more engaging low-end response, whereas the black stem tips offered a more neutral presentation with slightly more transparent highs. We are happy to add here that the ear tips didn’t buy a day and night change in the overall sound tonality of Azuri, which is a good thing. Despite being a $130 IEM, we explored the Azuri’s capabilities across a wide range of portable and desktop sources, cables, and ear tips. It paired exceptionally well with both balanced and warm musical sources like the iBasso DX320 and Dethonray Pegasus SG1 Gold. On the desktop side, we particularly enjoyed its synergy with the warm and musical character of the Aune S17 Pro, while those who prefer a more neutral and organic presentation would appreciate its pairing with the iFi Zen 3 Stack. For dongles, we tested the Azuri with options like the iFi Audio Go Link Max and Go Blu Air, Celest CD-20, Aune Yuki, and Tanchjim Space. Among these, the Celest CD-20 stood out as the best match, offering a slightly punchier mid-bass and a more engaging overall presentation.
While the stock cable of the Azuri is quite solid, as it features Ohno Continuous Cast copper wires and does end up adding a subtle warmth to the overall sound tonality of the Azuri, we paired the Azuri with a range of aftermarket cables from brands like Hansound, Linum, PW Audio, Rhapsodio, Modular Workshop (copper), and Linksmith to explore its full potential. Among these, the best synergy came from the Modular Workshop copper cable, featuring thick OCC litz copper wires in a coaxial structure. This pairing brought out a warmer, more musical tonality, something we at Aural Cafe particularly enjoy, along with an improvement in sub-bass rumble. We also experimented with various aftermarket ear tips from brands such as SpinFit, Divinus, Symbio, Linksmith, and E-Pro. Among them, the Symbio W ear tips offered the best synergy, enhancing the midbass punch slightly while maintaining the overall balance.

• Conclusion: -
The Aria EAR Azuri emerges as an exceptionally well-engineered IEM, where clarity and transient response are not just strengths but defining characteristics of its overall performance. At the heart of this lies the lithium-magnesium diaphragm dynamic driver, whose inherent speed and rigidity translate into a presentation that feels clean, precise, and remarkably effortless. What makes the Azuri particularly impressive is how effortlessly it retrieves micro-details across the frequency range. Whether at low or high listening volumes, it consistently unveils subtle nuances without sounding forced or analytical. This level of clarity feels organic and natural, preserving the emotional essence of the music while still offering a highly resolving experience. The dual Helmholtz and ribbon waveguide systems further enhance this by minimising unwanted resonances, ensuring that clarity is maintained without introducing harshness or fatigue. The speed and precision of the Azuri not only improve dynamics but also contribute to a more immersive and engaging sound, where every note feels articulate and well-defined. Despite this technical prowess, the Azuri never comes across as sterile; instead, it strikes a rare balance between analytical capability and musicality. While we at Aural Cafe would have preferred a touch more sub-bass rumble, the Azuri nonetheless sets a new benchmark in its price segment, delivering top-tier clarity alongside an effortlessly open, spacious, and emotionally immersive sound presentation.
