BIG news from the Lab!
Reactor Rescue is officially a FINALIST for the 2026 GEE! Learning Game Awards!
https://www.geeawards.com/

The GEE! Awards - named for Dr. James Paul Gee, widely considered the founding scholar of games-for-learning - are judged by international experts against a serious standard: does the game empower learners, create problems worth solving, and build deep understanding?

An independent panel looked at Reactor Rescue and said YES! And we are sooo incredibly proud of this! This validation belongs to everyone who got us here: the backers who funded us, the families who playtested, and the team behind it. Thank you all.

Two ways to be part of what's next:
🗳️ People's Choice voting is open to everyone (one vote per person): https://uwmadison.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3Cpi9pwo8fjz5dQ

📦 Pre-orders are open: https://reactor-rescue.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

Winners will be announced on July 9th at the Play Make Learn conference.

Congratulations to our fellow finalists, it's an honor to be in your company!

It's the FINAL COUNTDOWN!

Our Kickstarter campaign ends in 45 hours and we are so incredibly grateful to the almost 2,000 backers who joined our mission!

This is your last chance to be the first to get Reactor Rescue — the board game that turns you into space engineers fixing a failing spacecraft by building real circuits.

Join the mission, and experience what it is to be a true engineer!

We just got our first hands-on preview from GamingTrend, and we couldn't be happier with what Dan Hinkin had to say.

"I definitely enjoyed my time with the game and think it is a fantastic introduction to basic electronics. The Labbox components are top-notch!"

He also shared something that made our day: his nephews were "intent on learning how the circuits worked more than completing the game most efficiently."

That's exactly what we designed Reactor Rescue to do, make real engineering so fun that learning just happens.

The full preview is live now. Give it a read and let us know what you think.

Our Kickstarter campaign is live until May 21st: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/reactor-rescue/reactor-rescue-the-board-game-where-you-build-real-circuits

We get a hands-on preview of the educational electronics game.

Reactor Rescue is a competitive, engine-building strategy board game for 1–4 players, ages 10+, with a unique game mechanic: you build real electronic circuits to win!

Players step into the role of space engineers racing to save the city of Electra. Your spacecraft has malfunctioned mid-mission, and you must repair it by wiring real electronic components — motors, lights, sensors, switches, and dimmers — to fix the broken systems of your spacecraft. The first engineer to fully repair their spacecraft claims the single Reactor Token and wins the game!

Every decision matters, every build is real, and every game unfolds differently!

1,000 backers.
Five days ago, Reactor Rescue went live on Kickstarter.
Today, 1,000 people from around the world have backed a board game where you build real, working electronic circuits.

Parents who want their kids to learn engineering through play. Teachers looking for hands-on STEM tools. Engineers who grew up loving circuits and want to share that with the next generation. Board game families who just want a great game night.

1,000 people who believe that learning and fun don't have to be separate things.

Two stretch goals unlocked. Featured by Hackster.io and GeekDad. 24 days still to go.
Thank you to every single backer.

Reactor Rescue just got featured on Hackster.io — one of the biggest platforms in the maker and engineering community.

The headline says it all: "This Board Game Teaches Real Engineering Skills."

When we set out to build Reactor Rescue, that was the dream — a game where you're not pretending to build circuits, you're actually building them. Motors, lights, sensors, switches — all real, all on your table.

Seeing Hackster.io recognise that means the world to us.

"Reactor Rescue is very interesting. It's a cool hybrid mix of things — it brings together a lot of strategy, the engine-building portion of card-based engine building, and building a LITERAL engine." — Will Meadows, Tantrum House

Hearing this from one of the most well-known board game review channels on YouTube? Yeah, we're still smiling.
