Save the Children wanted to help parents better cater to their young children's emotional and early education needs. But, there was an issue - busy parents are often hard to reach.

So how did they end up opening that line of communication? A relevant and personalised mobile application, of course!

The app itself is based on the Abecedarian education methodology, utilising a range of teaching and learning strategies to support parents in becoming a source of crucial early education.

Since launch, over 50% of users have returned to the app for multiple sessions over a period of months with an average session duration of almost 3 minutes; a lifetime in the day-to-day life of a busy parent. These results are phenomenal for our target audience, who are time-poor and historically have experienced barriers or demonstrated reluctance to engage in early learning programs. This indicates that the app is being used as intended — incrementally, day by day — and is supporting the development of new habits.

ANZ launched the thought-leadership news service BlueNotes in mid 2014, with the objective to revolutionise the finance digital publishing world.

Given its importance within the financial institution sector, ANZ wanted to ensure that there was an ongoing evolution of BlueNotes and that the bar was being continuously raised. That's where we came in!

We audited BlueNotes to identify the key areas of potential improvement and optimisation. We then conducted a program of Continuous Improvement, gradually overhauling the visual design and user experience to encourage more natural, organic interactions and elevate BlueNotes to an industry leading standard. Additional features and extensions were also added to the core platform including a dedicated mobile app with full content integration, and a media centre.

Ever heard of a Hack Day? A few years back, we facilitated a one with the Australian Red Cross to find solutions for Australians in danger of bushfires.

As the title suggests, a Hack Day is a day-long workshop, pretty similar to a Design Sprint - in which developers, strategists, project managers and subject matter experts collaborate intensively to create tangible prototypes designed to solve a series of preconceived issues.

Working with the Australian Red Cross team, we saw so many innovative ideas come to life, including;

💡A Voice assistant to help quiz school kids on what to do before a bushfire
💡A Facebook chatbot that can share valuable information during a bushfire and also mark your family members safe.
💡An immersive VR experience that would put people into the heart of a bushfire so they know how to react.
💡An app to assist with preparations and take families on a road to readiness.
💡A digital ecosystem for a rural property that used IoT to support self-timing sprinklers, safety lights, and smoke detectors.

Parents today are incredibly time poor, often juggling family, work and multiple other responsibilities. At the same time, between popular blogs and family websites, there has never been more parenting advice available – some of it confusing and contradictory.

In order to ease some of these issues, the VIC Department of Health and Human Services sought to create a mobile application that would act as a true source of information, empowering parents with objective knowledge.

VERSA were lucky enough to be engaged to create this wonderful, interactive and immersive mobile application that connected time-poor parents to over 100 years worth of expert content.

The app itself delivers personalised content through clever UI and an interactive virtual assistant (chatbot), housed within one extraordinary app. Through a seamless UI and content structure users can receive advice tailored to their child’s growth and development and interact with Nora, the virtual nurse. with over 100,000 downloads (and counting), we are pretty proud of this one!

About a year or so ago - we decided to switch to a remote-first agency model.

Why?

Well, we wanted to give our wonderful staff the flexibility they need to lead the best possible life, at work, and outside of work.

We still have an office for essential face-to-face occasions, as well as for those who may prefer going into the office - but what we've found so far is that a lot of staff love the lack of commuting times, the increase in flexibility, the decrease in stress and the positive impact on the environment - even if it's not everyday.

There's no doubt remote-working has had a long term effect on the traditional characteristics of office culture. What do you think about remote working?
