Faster delivery used to mean one thing: cutting corners.

AI is changing that equation. Used well, it speeds up development without compromising the quality of what gets built, catching issues earlier, automating the repetitive work, freeing your team to focus on what actually needs human judgement.

The question is whether your team and processes are set up to use it that way.

Is Your Business Ready for AI? 8 Honest Signs to Help You Decide

AI adoption is booming, but many businesses struggle to turn AI initiatives into real results. The missing piece? An AI readiness assessment.

You’ve seen the headlines. Your competitors are announcing AI initiatives. Your board is asking questions. Your inbox is full of vendor pitches promising transformation. But here’s the uncomfortable truth: 91% of mid-market companies are using AI, yet only 25% have successfully integrated it. The gap between adoption and readiness has never been wider.

This isn’t an article about why you should adopt AI. You already know that. This is about something harder to answer: are you actually ready for it? Not every business is, and that’s not a failure. It’s a starting point. The companies seeing real returns from AI aren’t necessarily the ones that moved first. They’re the ones who built the right foundations before they moved at all.

IBM’s latest research reveals a sobering reality: the average breach goes undetected for 207 days. In that window, attackers establish persistence, move laterally, and exfiltrate data—all whilst security dashboards show no issues.

The structural problem isn’t monitoring; it’s architecture. Traditional antivirus catches known threats, but modern attacks use legitimate tools in illegitimate ways. Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) changes this by monitoring behaviour, not just signatures.

At Warp, we’ve learnt that the most effective security isn’t about preventing every attack—it’s about detecting and containing attacks before they achieve their objectives. EDR turns the 207-day detection gap into minutes.

Our theme was Winter Wonderland. Pretoria and Somerset West gave us clear skies and sun instead. ☀️❄️

The Annual White Elephant Party is a firm favourite around here: everyone brings a gift, everyone takes a chance, and this year's pile did not disappoint; a few brilliant finds, a few "why does someone still have this" mysteries, and everything in between.

We’ve seen too many businesses discover their security gaps after an incident forces the conversation. The structural problem isn’t the quality of their tools; it’s where in the attack chain evaluation occurs.

DNS filtering represents a shift from reactive to proactive security. Instead of asking “how quickly can we respond?”, the question becomes “why are we allowing attack traffic to reach our defences in the first place?”

For South African businesses navigating POPIA compliance, this prevention-first approach is increasingly non-negotiable. Demonstrating reasonable technical measures means architecting security in, not bolting it on after.

Network-layer attacks have increased 57% year-over-year. The pattern is consistent across industries: attackers route around endpoint defences by operating at the infrastructure layer.

At Warp, we’ve learnt that the most effective defence isn’t catching threats after they arrive; it’s preventing them from reaching your network in the first place. DNS filtering blocks connections to malicious infrastructure before they’re established.

The question we ask our clients: where in your architecture does threat evaluation actually happen?

DNS Filtering: Why Your Network’s First Line of Defence Matters Most

According to Akamai’s 2026 State of the Internet Security Report, Layer 7 DDoS attacks have surged 104% over two years, while API attacks increased 113% year-over-year. These aren’t isolated incidents targeting enterprise giants; they’re systematic probes seeking the path of least resistance across businesses of every size. The pattern is consistent across industries and geographies: attackers don’t need to break through your strongest defences when they can route around them.

The structural problem isn’t a lack of security tools. Most businesses have firewalls, antivirus software, and endpoint protection. The gap is architectural: by the time malicious traffic reaches those defences, it’s already inside your network perimeter. The question isn’t whether your existing tools are effective; it’s whether threats should reach them in the first place.
