Update: Southbound I-29 to be narrowed to one lane on March 12
Gene Field Road Bridge replacement project

Southbound Interstate 29 in St. Joseph is scheduled to be narrowed to one lane Thursday, March 12 from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Clarkson Construction Company, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, will be moving equipment during that time. The traffic impact was moved from tomorrow, March 11 to Thursday, March 12 due to contractor scheduling.

Traffic Impacts: Southbound I-29 will be narrowed to one lane at the Gene Field Road Bridge construction site from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. A 10.6-foot width restriction will be in place.

This project will widen the bridge and replace its driving surface as well as add pedestrian sidewalks to the north and south sides of the bridge. This project is scheduled to be completed by July 2026.

Tarkio River Bridge on Holt County Route 111 now open
Tarkio River Bridge west of Craig

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Tarkio River Bridge on Holt County Route 111 west of Craig is now open following core drilling ahead of a planned bridge replacement project. Bridge crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation reopened the bridge yesterday, Wednesday, Feb. 4.

A project to replace the bridge is currently scheduled for 2027 in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). More information on this, and other planned projects, can be found at: https://www.modot.org/statewide-transportation-improvement-program-stip.

Mound City News readers, we got word this morning that the Second Harvest fresh food mobile pantry has changed the date for its food drop in Oregon next week. Originally scheduled for Monday, February 9, residents in Holt County may utilize the free pantry on Wednesday, February 11, behind the South Holt R-1 School in Oregon. The address is 205 Madison Street. Those visiting the pantry will be routed to the back of the school propertyon Madison Street for pick-up. Food will be distributed behind the school where the elementary students are dropped off and picked up.The pantry will open at 10 a.m. and run while supplies last. Thereare no eligibility requirements, however, those utilizing the service for the first time may have to sign in. For additional resources, visitwww.shcfb.org.
