What I've learned from my 7 years experience in this tech industry is that the school will give you the fundamental knowledge, not the reality of what to expect! I kind of understand why they can just offer the fundamentals though — this industry evolves every minute and they can never keep up with the rapid changes. They're just there to build the foundation. You ought to build the wall and everything by yourself. If you're not in the mood for that, well I have news for you, my friend.
My point is, if you want to be competitive in the tech world don’t be lazy! Use the knowledge you gained from school and do something productive about it. Trust me, your knowledge in many aspects of the industry will shock you.
