Most breaches aren’t movie-grade hacks. They look a lot more like the Death Star.
Near-unlimited Imperial budget. The best engineers in the galaxy. A battle station the size of a small moon. And still, one unpatched vulnerability brought the whole thing down.
Decades later, the lesson holds. The breaches we see in our vCISO work almost never come from elite zero-days. They come from known vulnerabilities sitting unpatched for months. From a forgotten admin account. From an exhaust port nobody bothered to map.
Cybersecurity isn’t glamorous. It’s vigilance, patching, asset visibility, and assuming somebody is already inside the perimeter.
May the Fourth be with you. And may your patch management be too.
