Switched my laptop on this morning and Windows was telling me it had updated my computer and would I like to use Microsoft's recommended settings? Which means, among other things, changing my default browser back to Microsoft Edge (instead of Google Chrome), and changing my default pdf reader to Microsoft Edge (instead of Adobe Acrobat Reader), and changing my sharing settings (so shared printers disappear and shared folders ask for a password they never needed before. I frequently get complaints about these things -- and this is generally why. So if you don't want these settings changed, don't allow Windows to reset your defaults!

Courtesy of Eset, here is a serious warning that should make us all more vigilant this year. Remember NEVER to click links in emails, Social Media DMs and SMS's; and you even need to be careful about WhatsApp messages because hackers are wickedly clever.

As the cop shows always say, "BE SAFE OUT THERE!"
