The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is designed to make it easier for African countries to trade with each other — and estimates suggest intra-African trade could increase by around 45% by 2045, representing approximately US$275.7 billion in additional cross-border trade.

But here’s the part we find interesting…

Every additional product traded has to move.

It needs a truck, ship or plane.
It may need a warehouse.
It needs customs clearance.
It needs tracking.
It needs data.
And it needs to get across a border.

So perhaps the biggest AfCFTA story isn’t only about trade.

On our second-to-last day in Nairobi, we had the opportunity to attend the AFMASS Food Expo & Africa Logistics Expo.

Africa presents enormous opportunities, but it also comes with unique logistics, supply chain, infrastructure, and operational challenges. Hearing directly from industry leaders, manufacturers, logistics providers, and technology experts gives us valuable insight into where these challenges exist and, more importantly, how technology can help solve them.
