hi, how do i get an antivirus for a blackberry?

Hi Michelle,
Please remember that you cannot directly compare the working of the Blackberry Operating System(OS5/6/7) and a Windows based machine.

My personal opionion is that you DO NOT require an antivirus for your blackberry due to the manner in which applications are installed whereby security permissions have to be granted during the setup. However, this does not mean that the applications you have "quickly" installed does not contain any unwanted spyware, malware or malicious activity.

1. Why do you feel that you require an antivirus?
2. Do you suspect that you already have a virus on your blackberry?

Should you suspect that you do have a virus or spyware, you can view all applications installed on your phone by going to (Options > Advanced Options > Applications), so it would be easy enough to see if anything strange was listed there which you can delete from the same screen.

If you still feel uneasy with security threats try http://www.kaspersky.co.za/mobile_security_trial and be sure to give us feedback on any findings and if it is worth the $$$

Do you carry your confidential backups on your flash drive?
One way to protect your drive is with Truecrypt. Although you can only use your drive on a pc with truecrypt installed, it does prove to be a secure solution.
1. Start from scratch - clean / format your flash drive
2. Download + install TrueCrypt http://www.truecrypt.org/downloads
3. Click Create Volume, select "encrypt a non-system partition"
4. Select Standard truecrypt volume, select device
5. Create encrypted volume and format, next, next
6. Enter + confirm Password
7. Click format drive
8. Takes approximately 40 minutes to do.

TrueCrypt is free open-source disk encryption software for Windows 7/Vista/XP, Mac OS X and Linux (section: Downloads).
