This Youth Day, the Eastern Cape Film Hub is featured as a key partner within the Eastern Cape creative ecosystem, supporting a growing pipeline of young filmmakers in the province.

As part of the Eastern Cape Film Expo campaign, led by the Eastern Cape Development Corporation, several of the 25 emerging ecosystem builders currently enrolled in Film and TV Production training at the Film Hub are spotlighted.

This cohort will progress into an incubation phase at the Hub, where their development continues through hands-on participation in film productions, content creation, music scoring, and animation projects. The programme is designed to support their transition into viable creative enterprises, enabling them to establish sustainable businesses that actively contribute to the Eastern Cape’s growing creative economy.

South Africa’s journey to the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge 2026 begins with empowering our educators first.

The Cortex Hub, in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) International Telecommunication Union and Google, is proud to host the National AI and Robotics Youth Training Programme – Training of Trainers Workshop.

This national Train-the-Trainer programme is designed for schools, educators, and organisations across South Africa that are teaching or advancing AI, coding, and robotics for young people aged 10–18. The workshop will equip teachers with future-ready tools, practical robotics learning frameworks, and AI literacy skills ahead of the national youth challenge later this year.

The Minister of the Department of Small Business Development, Honourable Stella Ndabeni, together with the MEC for the Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Honourable MEC Nonkqubela Pieters, visited the Cortex Hub today. A visit that provided an immersive showcase of the province’s growing innovation, entrepreneurship and creative economy ecosystem, with the Minister engaging directly with MSMEs, startups and emerging enterprises currently incubated, accelerated and supported through at the Cortex Hub.

The startups had the opportunity to present their solutions, share their growth journeys and demonstrate how both the Cortex Hub and the Film Hub is enabling local businesses to scale, create jobs and participate meaningfully in future-facing sectors of the economy.

The Cortex Hub is proud to host the AI and Robotics Youth Training Programme – Training of Trainers Workshop, an impactful initiative designed to equip South African teachers with future-ready skills in artificial intelligence and robotics education.

In partnership with the ITU and Google, this programme is building the next generation of educators who will shape Africa’s digital future through AI literacy, robotics and innovation-led learning.
