Omarchy Linux gets $10 million
Omarchy Linux landed $10 million in funding, with backing from Michael Dell, Patrick Collison, Tobi Lutke, Jack Dorsey and DHH himself.

DHH has argued for years that open source should welcome people regardless of politics. The Linux community's reaction to this funding proves his point.

Omarchy runs on Hyprland, a tiling window manager. Windows users face a steep learning curve: keyboard shortcuts replace mouse dragging, the Start menu and taskbar vanish, and the terminal becomes part of daily use.

The desktop looks sharp and runs fast. Battery life on supported Intel hardware drops to around 2W idle. But the workflow demands time and patience to learn.

Windows 11 26H2 arrives later this year as one of the smallest annual upgrades Microsoft has shipped. Most supported PCs already hold the code on disk, so Windows Update flips it on with a small enablement package and one restart.

If you still run Windows 11 24H2, note the deadline: Home and Pro support ends 13 October 2026. Move to a newer release before then to keep receiving security updates.

Fake SSDs are flooding online marketplaces, advertising 1TB, 2TB or even 4TB at prices below what a genuine drive should cost.

Many work fine at first. Windows reads the advertised capacity, you format them, files copy over without a hitch.

Then you pass the drive's real physical limit.

Some counterfeits hold as little as 64GB or 128GB of actual storage. Beyond that, files corrupt or disappear, or the drive stops responding.

With NAND flash prices climbing, those "bargains" tempt harder than ever. They end up costing more than a quality drive bought upfront.

✅ Buy from reputable sellers. ✅ Choose trusted brands. ✅ Read customer reviews carefully. ✅ Test every new SSD with H2testw (Windows) or F3 (Linux) before storing anything important.
