Women in tech don’t look one way.

Lead one way.
Live one way.
Or get here one way. 💚

So, as Women’s Month wraps up in South Africa, we’re introducing you to just a few of the women unapologetically making an impact in our business.

WOAH! 🥑To the Women Of AvoChoc, Hell yeah to you!

We gave a few of our developers the exact same brief:

🤖 “Create an AvoChoc poster using AI.”

Same brief.
Same AI.
Same brand. 🥑

Four VERY different interpretations. 👀

Which proves something we think gets lost in all the AI hype:

AI isn’t the creative genius in the room. 🧠

It doesn’t have taste.
It doesn’t have opinions.
It doesn’t know when something just feels right. ✨

And it definitely doesn’t know AvoChoc better than the weird little humans who built the brand. 🥑💚

What AI can do is amplify the person behind the prompt. 🚀

Different brains ask different questions.
Different questions create different prompts.
Different prompts create wildly different results. 🎨🤖

So maybe we’re asking the wrong question.

❌ “Can AI replace creativity?”

✅ “What happens when you give creative people better tools?”

In our case, apparently... these seven posters. 😂

Now for the important part:

🏆 Which developer understood the assignment?

We are so proud to celebrate the women behind AvoChoc. 💚

Not just for what they do, but for everything that has shaped who they are.

The memories they carry.
The people they love.
The little things they hold onto.
And the stories that are uniquely theirs.

Because behind every brilliant woman is a whole life that made her. 🌸

Here’s to the women of AvoChoc, in all their strength, softness, individuality and magic. 🥑✨

Happy Women’s Day. 💚

🛺🌊👩‍👧 Zinzi

Zinzi has always had an adventurous, playful spirit, from disappearing to the beach on a tricycle as a little girl to seeing life differently since becoming a mother. ✨💚

“My daughter is my pride and joy and she’s far more valuable to me than any possession ever could be.” 🫶

🏕️💎🎶 Dominique

Warm, sentimental and deeply family-oriented, Dominique’s happiest memories aren’t really about places or things. They’re about everyone she loves being together. 💚

“Spending quality time with the people you love is one of the most valuable things in life.” 🫶

🌍🎶✨ Moreblessing

Uncomplicated in the best possible way, Moreblessing isn’t particularly interested in attaching meaning to things or putting herself into boxes. Life is there to be experienced. 💫

“Not into possessions, more about experiences.” 🌍

🔥🎲📦 Amber

Amber is a collector of moments rather than things. Cards, childhood drawings and little keepsakes from adventures become a physical record of the people and experiences that have mattered most. 💌

“I keep everything special to me that people have given to me through the years.” 🤍

🌸🔊❤️ Doné

Playful, sentimental and someone who remembers the story behind the smallest things, Doné holds tightly to the moments that make love feel tangible. 🥹

“I feel like it represents such a special moment as well as the care we have for each other.” 🌷

🎶💻📖 Lea

There are a lot of layers to Lea: faith, family, music, creativity, tech and a fierce pride in making things herself. But underneath it all is a deep appreciation for the things that connect her to where she

Design isn’t the finishing touch. 🎨

If UX only enters the room after the system is built, you’re not designing. You’re decorating.

Map first. Design second. Build third. 🥑

Your users will feel the difference.

Design was never the last step. Someone just decided it was.
And that decision will have a lasting effect on your business.

Most digital interfaces are not hard because the problem was hard. They are hard because someone designed for the system before they designed for the person using it.

Zinzi May, Head of Design at AvoChoc, makes that point clearly in this conversation: design is visual communication, not decoration! When design only enters the process at the end of a build, that sequencing problem does not stay a design problem. It shows up later as user frustration, support tickets, and workarounds nobody planned for.

We see the same pattern from the engineering side. The projects that struggle are rarely the ones with difficult requirements. They are the ones where design and architecture were treated as two separate phases instead of one continuous decision. If the interface only gets decided after the data model, the workflow, and the permissions logic are already locked, design is left translating constraints instead of shaping them.

Map before you design. Design before you build. That sequence protects the person using the system, not just the system itself.

Before your next build, ask one question: when does design get a seat at the table?

🤖 Everyone's talking about the AI model.

We're more interested in what it's plugging into.

Legacy systems. Mystery integrations. "Temporary" fixes from 2019. 👀

That's where AI projects usually fall over.

As one of our AI engineers put it:

> "The real challenge almost always came down to the architecture around the AI, how the agents plugged into the wider system."

💡 AI isn't just a model problem.

It's a systems problem.

What's the biggest challenge you've seen with AI implementation? 👇

🚨 Everyone wants to modernise.

Very few know what they’re about to break.

Before we talk platforms, AI, or migrations, we ask one question:

**What cannot break?** 👀

On this project, that question uncovered hidden dependencies, forgotten integrations, and a “retired” system that wasn’t actually retired.

Only then did we build. 🛠️

✅ No big bang migration.
✅ No unnecessary downtime.
✅ Just steady progress that kept the business running.

Because the fastest way to modernise is rarely the smartest.
