Can touch sensor buttons have IO-Link?

Yes, they can!

The AC901, AC902, AC903 and AC904 are industrial capacitive touch sensor buttons with IO-Link communication, bringing intelligence and flexibility right to the operator interface.

Instead of a conventional mechanical pushbutton, these sensors use capacitive touch technology and offer a service life of more than 100 million switching cycles. They are rated IP69K on the front and IK08 impact resistant, making them ideal for demanding industrial environments.

But what makes them particularly interesting is IO-Link.

Through IO-Link, parameters such as touch sensitivity, NO/NC operation, PNP/NPN output and LED behaviour can be configured. Even the LED colours and lighting effects can be customised, including static, flashing and pulsing indications.

The range provides different button markings for different applications:

AC901 – Neutral / blank
AC902 – Power symbol
AC903 – START
AC904 – STOP

They can be used for machine start/stop, acknowledgement, gate control and many other operator functions — while integrating directly into an IO-Link architecture.

So yes… even the humble pushbutton is becoming part of Industry 4.0!
