Good news! Telkom is rolling out a major network upgrade that will increase the speed of your ADSL line.

Line speeds of up to 1Mbps, 2Mbps, and 4Mbps/10Mbps will be increased to up to 2Mbps, 4Mbps, and 10Mbps respectively.

How does this affect you?

The upgrade will take place in a phased approach starting mid-November 2013.
Starting on Monday 11 November the “up to 4Mbps/10Mbps” lines will be upgraded to “up to 10Mbps”
Starting on Monday 18 November the “up to 2Mbps” lines will be upgraded to “up to 4Mpbs”
Starting on Monday 25 November the “up to 1Mbps” lines will be upgraded to “up to 2Mbps”

The process will be paused over Telkom’s freeze period (21 December 2013 to 5 January 2014) and resume again thereafter.

What should you do?

In order for the line upgrade to be successful please keep your router on at all times to allow Telkom to complete the process.

If your ADSL line is through Proxy Computers, you can check your current line sync speed in our Line Speed Optimiser tool in your Customer Zone.

We will keep you posted with further information on Data package options so you can take full advantage of your free line speed upgrade!

Telkom announced that it is upgrading the speed of its ADSL products free of charge, starting from November 2013.

Telkom’s wholesale division is planning to upgrade its Resell DSL Access offerings as follows:

‘Up to 1 024 kbps’ will be migrated to ‘Up to 2 048 kbps’
‘Up to 2 048 kbps’ will be migrated to ‘Up to 4 096 kbps’
‘Up to 4 096/10 240 kbps’ will be migrated to ‘Up to 10 240 kbps’.
In future, the ‘Up to 4 096/10 240 kbps’ product offering will be split into two separate offerings i.e. ‘Up to 4 096 kbps’ and ‘Up to 10 240 kbps’.

The migration to higher speeds will take place in a phased approach commencing from 11 November 2013.

Owing to a planned network freeze over the December 2013/January 2014 period the upgrade process will be paused and will resume thereafter.
