On 23 April 2026, we celebrated International Girls in ICT Day at the I-CAN Centre in Elsies River under the global theme
In collaboration with Go Fourth International, Cisco Networking Academy SA (A Skills Development Program by Cisco), Genesis CITI / I-CAN Centre, and Leelyn Management, we welcomed young women from Elsies River High School and recent matriculants to explore pathways into AI, Cybersecurity, and Networking, while building confidence through real-world industry engagement.
The programme was opened with a keynote address by Alderman James Vos, Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth in the City of Cape Town.
We were honoured to be part of such an event with partners from both government and public, all united in empowering young women to meaningfully participate in the digital economy.
A heartfelt thank you to the sponsors - DNI Group, The Fanaka Foundation, and Slush Puppie South Africa, as well as everyone who contributed to the eventโs success. When girls can see themselves in tech, they can be the future of tech.
