Namibia Breweries Limited's 1MW solar plant made it the largest hybrid system in the world in 2013. But going fully self-sufficient on power was only step one.
The harder problem: three departments — brewing, packaging, distribution — all optimising their own patch, with nobody owning the thing that made all of it possible. Utilities.
So Namibia Breweries built a single source of truth using AVEVA Historian, deployed by IS³.
The setup: two TOP Servers balancing data from 100+ PLCs, one DataHub Server, a central Historian data warehouse, and a secure dashboard giving management real-time visibility into water, electricity, chemicals, thermal energy, solar generation, CO2 and air — anywhere, anytime.
The result wasn't just cleaner reporting. It was:
→ CO2 sales targets met
→ Full compliance with municipal regulations
→ Measurable electricity savings
