I can't stress how important it is to have your logo in vector stored away somewhere safe. I recently did a business card for this client and they supplied me a jpeg as their logo. Luckily I knew what font they used and I was able to recreate their logo with some slight changes to freshen it up a bit but not completely change the identity. Here's a short clip of the process.
