In January 2021 Dominicue gave me the opportunity to start as an admin and assistant IT technician at sereneIT. When I started, my IT knowledge was very limited but during the following two years Dominicue and Stuart were always willing to show and teach me new things, from taking a laptop apart into hundreds of pieces and putting it all back together, to installing a complete wireless network on a farm in the middle of nowhere. Dominicue was always a big motivator of growth, encouraging me to experiment with different things and reading up on topics that I am not familiar with.

Working alongside Dom and Stuart really set a super high standard for my future colleagues. I could never ask for any better. They showed me how important it is for a team to have trust and integrity to be able to function. We were serious about our work and doing it right, there was always an energetic and happy feel in the office and the smell of fresh coffee that Helen made on the icy winter mornings was the cherry on top. We really became good friends, often having a Friday afternoon braai, playing squash and going on hikes.

It has been an amazing two years of my life and I will forever be grateful for my time with the sereneIT team. I am really going to miss “The Bois”. -Quintin

December 2021 we had successfully implemented a Wi-Fi solution at Spinning Reel guest cottages. Our local ISP could not provide high speed internet at the time so although the project was completed we could not distribute internet access to the cottages yet as it would have been way too slow.

Currently the ISP is out and about planting poles to get their network switched over to Fibre. This means that we are finally able to hitch them up with high speed internet.

The final piece of the puzzle was providing each cottage with smart TV access. This allows guests to relax on those rainy days and watch a bit of telly.
