My products are custom made with the use of my own photo's taken in studio or occasionally in nature
I make "limited editions" that is very popular - only 12 per design
The products are 100% colourfast and machine washable without the loss of colour I started out as an artistic director in the world of newspapers, where I learned the ins and outs of color science and how it affects printing accura
cy. This background has been essential in my current work, allowing me to create vibrant and unique home textiles that truly stand out. My designs are deeply inspired by the stunning flora of South Africa, especially the Protea and other wildflowers. These natural elements are at the heart of my work, bringing a touch of South African beauty into homes. Each piece I create starts with my own photographs, capturing the intricate details and vibrant colors of these beautiful plants. I then transform these images into designs that are both visually striking and true to their natural origins. I am passionate about ensuring every item I make is of the highest quality. My dedication to craftsmanship means that each textile is not just a decorative item but a piece of art that adds a unique and personal touch to any home. I want my work to reflect the beauty of nature and to bring joy and inspiration to those who use it. In a world where mass-produced items are common, my work stands out because of its unique style and high quality. I aim to create pieces that people can connect with, that bring a sense of nature’s wonder into their daily lives. Through my textiles, I hope to enrich homes with the vibrant beauty of South African wildflowers, making everyday spaces feel more special and alive. Every flower I use has a unique combination of colors, shapes, size and textures. These characteristics are the building blocks for the flower arrangements and compositions I photograph for the final pieces of linen. The way the colors blend together and the contrast of shiny leaves against velvety flower heads, provide endless variations for me to work with. The shape of the final item is the key factor, requiring a specific composition to work well. Some of my custom runners end up being four meters long – just a narrow strip down a 16-seater table, while the table cloths are often perfect squares. These wildly different shapes demand unique, dynamic designs to look their best. It’s creative photography guided by proportions, starting right from the beginning with deciding what arrangement will suit which final product. After photographing, I use a variety of software programs to ensure the color profiles are optimized for printing always keeping in mind what is currently fashionable and will fit most interiors . Only when the design is printed can we truly see if it’s a success and if it will bring years of joy in its forever home. The last step is a dash of sewing to finish it off ready for another one of our discerning buyers – making their homes even more home!
