THE HISTORY OF ACCESS TRACK
Access Track was founded in 2013 with the goal of creating a smarter, more reliable alternative to paper visitor registers and outdated access control processes.
Manual register entry is a slow process that offers little opportunity to verify the accuracy of the information provided, and investigations or reporting can be extremely difficult because of unreadable handwriting, missing books, and fictitious information.
It also offers no opportunity to enable smarter functions such as automatically opening boom gates, sending arrival and departure notifications, or providing visitors with pre-clearance to enter the premises.
More sophisticated systems were available at the time, but they came with a hefty price tag, extremely complex integration requirements, and the need for ongoing technical support.
And so, during the hot summer of 2012, we set our sights on building a visitor information collection and management system that would be practical to use, easy to implement and, most importantly, affordable enough for even the smallest residential complex.
We still fondly remember the tiny blue e-Scan licence scanner that formed the basis of our first system. The e-Scan was designed and built in South Africa by a team that was just as passionate as we were about finding smarter ways to get things done. This was before smart devices became mainstream and took technology to the next level.
Since those early days, we have grown significantly, and our product offering has evolved from a single-purpose scanning solution deployed at only a handful of sites in Pretoria and Johannesburg into a smart and secure Visitor Access Management solution. It can now be adapted for use in almost any residential or commercial environment where visitor access management is required and is used throughout South Africa.
