With a finishing time of 16:21:55, that’s the kind of grit a guy needs to work in the technology space 😉.


The KAP sani2c Adventure is the middle of the three sani2c events, widely considered the most popular of the lot. It's a three-day mountain bike stage race in KwaZulu-Natal covering roughly 265 to 270 km, run point-to-point from the southern Drakensberg down to the Indian Ocean. Sani2c

The route starts on a sheep farm near the base of the Sani Pass, traverses the KZN Midlands mist belt across dairy and timber farms, drops through indigenous forests and the Umkomaas Valley, then crosses a nature reserve and sugar cane farms before finishing at Scottburgh on the south coast. Riders start at Glencairn Farm near Underberg, overnight at Mackenzie Club and Jolivet Farm, and finish on the grass at Scottburgh Golf Club. Sani2cEntry Ninja

Format-wise, the Adventure starts on Wednesday and finishes on Friday, a day ahead of the OG (the UCI-sanctioned Race edition), and does not allow e-bikes (those are catered for in the OG). It's a teamed event, seeded into batches: day one goes off in batches of 50 teams at 10-minute intervals starting 8:00 AM, with day two batches leaving in 5-minute intervals from first light at 6:30 AM. The character of it: a ridiculously high proportion of singletrack, gut-busting climbs and leg-wobbling descents, with the Adventure crowd known for beers flowing fast after a challenging morning on the bike and stories of conquering the Unitrans Iconic Climb.
