Your specimen arrived cold. But do you know what happened to it on the way?

An ice pack can tell you that a cooler was cold at some point.

It can't tell you whether a specimen spent 40 minutes outside its required temperature range in a hot vehicle. Or whether an excursion occurred overnight.

That's the difference between checking a cold chain and seeing it.
