Your customers know how you normally speak. So when your friendly local business suddenly starts “leveraging innovative solutions to deliver unparalleled customer-centric experiences,” something has gone horribly wrong. 😄
AI can help businesses create content faster, but one of the easiest mistakes to make is allowing it to replace your personality instead of helping you communicate it.
We've all started seeing these posts. They're grammatically perfect, professionally structured and packed with impressive-sounding words. There's just one problem: nobody in the business would ever actually say them.
And customers notice.
At Infogold, we use AI extensively, but the objective isn't to make every client sound polished in exactly the same way. We need to understand how that particular business communicates, who its customers are and what sort of personality people expect when they deal with it.
A family restaurant shouldn't sound like a multinational bank. Your local plumber doesn't need to become a “water infrastructure solutions specialist.” And the owner who's been cracking jokes with customers for 20 years shouldn't suddenly sound as though his posts were approved by a committee of corporate lawyers.
AI should help you express your voice more effectively, not give you a completely different one.
The technology is getting better incredibly quickly. That means the businesses that retain their personality, humour and humanity may actually become easier to notice amongst all the perfectly generated content.
Here's the test: if I removed your logo and business name from your last five posts, would your customers still know they came from you?
