In June, our 2 international directors and their families took some time out to discuss the strategy and focus on our various companies across the world. To do this we headed for the traditional South African 'bush' outing in the Kruger National Park, staying at a small lodge just outside of the park.
During this time, we realized that there is a huge need for directors to get together in a less stressful environment (which is why we brought our families with us) to be able to focus on the future.
During our discussions we consolidated a new concept that is a spin-off from the membered-in idea. Sadly I can’t talk too much about it until the patent is completed, except to say that it is a huge potential market internationally, and will require a large amount of investment and capital to take the technology out of MVP status into a fully grown product.
As with most of our products this new concept will be developed along the lines of lean start-up methodology, and we’re looking forward to testing the waters in the States with a new product.
A number of strategic moves were done while in South Africa, the least of which is consolidating our enterprises into a more structured form, allowing us to ensure proper governance on our companies. These changes will shortly see my withdrawal from Status Insight, Strategic Software Solutions and Status Legal Services.
On a more positive note, Richard, partner-director ‘on the ground’ in South Africa and I also acquired a new company in South Africa called BlackWing Computer Technologies (Pty) Ltd. This new company will continue the contract with Rand Merchant bank into the future.
I will keep you posted on further updates as they happen, and will let you know about our awesome new product as soon as the patent is completed.
Just for your interest, I've added a few photos from the lodge and Kruger National Park. I seriously recommend going on a safari there at least once in your lifetime. (P.S. Get hold of me before you do and I'll put you in touch with the best people in SA to send you!)
