When people dare say "South Africans are lazy", can they explain who built South Africa to be what it is today?
1. Whose labour powered the mines?
2. Whose fathers were not able to raise their children because they had to live in the hostels, or drive the long-haul trucks?
3. Whose parents became nurses, doctors, teachers and lawyers whose achievements gave the new generations something to aspire to?
4. Whose parents and grandparents worked in the factories?
Whose parents braved the walk to the taxi rank before the sun broke the morning light?
5. Who farmed the land before it was mechanised?
6. Who suffered the indignity of raising the children of others while their own children were left to be raised by their grandparents or the supportive community?
7. Whose labour built South Africa to be the most industrialised nation on the continent?
Who?
And if you say South Africans, then please tell us when exactly they became lazy.
And lastly, how are South African politicians repeating the statement that "South Africans are lazy" and then asking those same South Africans to vote for them?
Listen, you can call for peace, justice, the rule of law & due process. But please dont insult the people of the country.
