5 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE CHOOSING A SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM TO USE
The choice of the social media channel you will use in your digital marketing has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with you. It has everything to do with your prospective customer.
1. Which Channel to Use?
Where do your prospects hang out online? If they are youths they would probably be on Tik Tok or Instagram. Professionals usually favour Twitter & Linked-In. Do your research first and find out where your prospective customer is spending the majority of their time on. So, don't just pick your favourite channel, research first.
2. What content should I use?
This is one of the major ones. Create content that answers your prospects’ pain points/challenges/questions. What do they often talk about? Soccer maybe? Then create content that they always talk about, on channels that they spend their majority of time on. You will be guaranteed of high levels of engagement.
3. Budget
How much do you intend to spend on your ad budget? As they say, organic is dead. Facebook/Twitter/Instagram etc are in business as much as you're. They will not let you in on your ideal audiences until you pay them something. Plan on how much you will spend on each channel each month.
4. Objective
What do you seek to achieve? Online shop? Refer people to your Whatsapp? Direct Traffic to your website? Your goals determine the channels, strategies and budget you should employ.
5. Measurement
How will you measure your success? Set Key Performance Indicators that are clear, specific, time-bound and measurable.
