Recently, I had the opportunity to be part of the JCI CYE pitch program as a member of the COC team that organized the event. Through this experience, I learned several valuable lessons that I'd like to share today. It's been a while since my last post, and I've come to realize that the people around you can shape and mold you in profound ways - both within and outside of the COC team.
Initially, I was a quiet team member, observing and gauging the team's dynamics. As I began to contribute and voice my opinions, I learned the following lessons:
1. If you don't take your position, someone else will, and it may be challenging to reclaim it.
2. Not everyone contributes equally; some people are only there to take credit for others' work.
3. Those who get things done simply ask for tasks and deliver results.
4. Different people have different opinions, and effective leadership is crucial to harmonize these perspectives.
5. Things will inevitably go wrong, but they will also go right.
6. As the final result approaches, the noise and criticism will increase.
7. People rarely admit their mistakes, even when they're clearly in the wrong.
8. It's essential to maintain your temper, vision, and faith to keep things flowing smoothly.
9. Ultimately, no one knows what you're planning, so your version of it is what matters. People are interested in seeing your creativity and final product, not how you got there.
These lessons have been invaluable to me, and I hope they can benefit others as well.
