Latest On Pregnant 9-Year-Old: Police Confirm 13-Year-Old Cousin Is The Father After DNA Results

In yet another shocking development in the case of the 9-year-old girl from Zimbabwe’s Tsholotsho area who fell pregnant, police say DNA testing has revealed that a 9-year-old girl who gave birth at UBH recently was impregnated by her 13-year-old cousin brother, after having earlier interviewed her father as a suspect. Police say both children now "receiving counselling"

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) , paternity DNA test results have established that the victim’s 13-year-old cousin is the one who impregnated the 9-year-old girl.

Zimbabwe National Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed.

"The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that the Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) results obtained from National University of Science and Technology on 25th November 2022, in connection with the paternity of the 9 year old girl's child have established that the victim's cousin brother (13) is the father of the child."

"The 9 year old complainant and the suspect will now receive the appropriate counseling from the Police's Victim Friendly Unit (VFU)."

"The Police is now working with other relevant arms of the government to ensure that the due processes of the law are followed."

Zim wins 5 gold medals at India-Africa hackathon

Five Zimbabwean students have bagged five gold medals at the UNESCO India Africa Hackathon that was being held at the Gautam Buddha University in Uttar Pradesh from November 22.
