AI is reshaping how car dealerships operate, and the ones experimenting now will lead tomorrow.

We're kicking off "5 Questions With…" a short interview series featuring people working at the edge of their industry. One guest, five focused questions, no filler.

For episode one, we spoke with Lukas Fürst, Head of Aftersales at AutoFürst, to get his unfiltered take on integrating AI and digital tools into day-to-day dealership workflows.

He covers what worked, what didn't, and why vehicle data might be the most underutilized asset in aftersales.

➡️ His #1 advice? Just start experimenting.

The way we measure output is changing.

It used to be a function of skill and time.
Now there’s another variable: how effectively AI is used.

In this clip, our CFO Lukas Kinigadner shares a simple way to think about that shift, and why it’s often misunderstood.

Part of our Executive Roundtable, hosted by Paula M., with Christoph Braunsberger and Daniel Albertini, on digital transformation in automotive.

How much tire data actually gets used after the inspection is finished? 🛞

For a lot of service departments, tire checks still happen as a one-time task during the appointment.

But the information collected during that inspection can still be useful later on:
🔹 tire size
🔹 DOT numbers
🔹 tread depth
🔹 replacement history
🔹 previous inspection records

That context helps teams make quicker recommendations, prepare for seasonal tire changes, and avoid repeating work that was already done during a previous visit.

The challenge is capturing the information consistently in the first place.

That’s why more teams are collecting tire data directly during the inspection using a mobile device, without adding extra steps to the process.

“If I tell you your SCR is blocked… most people just go, what’s that?”

Ryan from HashTag Mechanic LTD shared how much of the job today is not just fixing cars, but explaining what’s actually going on.

Taking the time to break it down, give context, and sometimes even say, this isn’t worth doing.
That’s what customers remember.

Tire identification usually sounds simple until it has to happen at scale.

Reading DOT numbers manually across hundreds of inspections a day creates more delays than most people expect, especially when tires are dirty, worn, or difficult to read in real service conditions.

That’s one reason tire identification has become a much bigger operational topic across large retail and service networks.

A closer look at where the bottlenecks usually appear:

We touched on this briefly before:
the data you don’t have matters just as much as the data you do.

This is a deeper look at what that actually means in practice, and how easy it is to draw the wrong conclusions if you’re not careful.

A lot of service recommendations become easier once the customer can actually see the issue.

Inspection reports, tread measurements, and alignment indicators often explain the recommendation faster than the service conversation itself.

That was one of the more interesting points raised during a recent automotive webinar on digital inspections and customer communication.
