Five houses. Five contestant teams. Up to 250 workers on site a day. And a few million people watching every night.

For years, Nine In Six Builders have been the builder behind The Block on Channel 9. Director Aidan O’Shannessy calls it “compliance on steroids.”

This season they inducted over 1,000 workers in under 12 weeks, onboarded every contestant’s trades with a single invite link, and ran site walks, SWMS and defects for all five houses in BuildPass.

As another season of The Block wraps up, here’s how they keep it compliant at TV speed. Full story in the comments.

This one isn’t about Agent 🤖

If Claude or ChatGPT is already where you work, you can connect BuildPass to it directly 🔗. Your projects, RFIs, subs and documents become something you can ask about from inside the AI tool you’re already in.

It’s called an MCP. Kina walks through the setup — it’s shorter than you’d expect ⚡, and the permissions work exactly how they do today 🔒

“Show me defects” and “show me open defects on HQ this week” are not the same question 🤔

Most people type the first one into Agent, get a sprawl of everything across every project 😵‍💫, and decide it isn’t that useful.

It’s not the tool. It’s how you’re asking. Kina’s got four tips for getting the most out of it 👀

19/10/2026

"Fill out today's site diary."

Agent reads the template, pulls today's photos from the gallery, checks what defects were opened and whether the schedule's on track, proposes what it wants to write, and fills the response once you approve. Then: "add that image to the response." It already had.

The more you put into BuildPass, the better this gets. A voice note from the ute works just as well as typing.

One of five live demos from our AI 101 session, all on real site workflows, none of them scripted for the camera.

🤖 There’s an AI assistant built into BuildPass — Agent — and most people haven’t clicked it yet.

It knows your projects, your subcontractors, your documents. You ask in plain English, it answers from your live data ⚡

Kina shows you where Agent lives and runs one real question through it 👀 — the kind that usually means a spreadsheet and three folders 🙃

Paper checklist → BuildPass template. One message.

Hugh drops the PDF into a new chat: "make me a template from this." A minute later it's built: sections, Pass / Fail / N/A fields, observations, all matching the original. Then you edit side by side: "rename the sections, I want two signature blocks."

Building out checklists is the single most common thing builders ask BuildPass Agent to do. It works best from an existing form, because that way it matches the style you already like.

Got a drawer full of paper forms? That's an afternoon, not a quarter.

Where are you on the curve?

Level 1: Ask. "How do I set up a permit?" Useful. Saves a bit of time.

Level 2: Delegate. "Review these drawings." "Write this report." This is where the hours come back.

Level 3: Connect. Your AI wired into BuildPass, your tools, your calendar, doing jobs before you've asked.

Most builders we talk to are sitting at 1, heading into 2. Hugh's ask in our AI 101 session was simple: work out where you are, and leave one level higher.

Which step are you on?

The end-of-day site report used to take a login, a phone call and ten minutes. Now it arrives on its own.

At Turn Group, contract administrator Oscar has Claude email it to him at the end of every day, pulled from live BuildPass data through MCP: who signed on, how many people were on site, and whether they're signed onto the right SWMS.

"I can just ask Claude to do it and it does it, end of day, automatically."

That's one workflow. The carousel has the rest: daily sign-on notifications for PMs across every job, weekly client summaries drafted from site diaries, drawing revisions that list their own changes, and a photo of the site whiteboard that turns into the schedule.

After a handful of years on BuildPass, Turn Group were among the first to plug their live project data into Claude, with two on-site sessions from our BuildX team to get it running.

None of it replaces walking the site. What's changed is how much of the week goes to chasing information that already existed.

"If I turn on BuildPass AI, does our company data go into the cloud?"

The most-asked question in our AI 101 session, and the one worth forwarding to whoever signs off on this at your company.

Short version from Hugh, who built BuildPass Agent: we pay for enterprise AI with zero data retention. Your data is transmitted like any internet request, but it isn't stored, isn't used for training, and everything is processed in your region. Australia for AU accounts, the US for US accounts.

That's a deliberate cost we carry so you don't have to think about it.

Agent is included on every plan. Settings → AI Tools → BuildPass Agent.

"We're spending less time chasing information and getting the actual work done out here on site." Jordan Walker, Project Manager, Turn Group 🏗️

Turn Group build architectural homes at the top end of the Melbourne market. Right now that's a three-storey build at Ocean Grove with fifteen metres of fall, worked from the bottom up.

Long-time BuildPass customers, they were among the first to connect their live project data to Claude through BuildPass MCP. Two on-site sessions with our BuildX team later, it's part of the daily routine: sign-on reports arriving on their own, SWMS checks without the phone call, client updates already written.

The build is still the build. What's changed is how much of the week goes to finding information that already existed.
