EOFY planning has a funny effect: it creates urgency and ambiguity at the same time.

Budgets get drafted, initiatives get named, and suddenly everyone is expected to “have a plan” - even when the real constraints haven’t been surfaced.

In our experience, the biggest risk isn’t picking the wrong technology… It’s committing to the right-sounding work without a clear view of: ownership, adoption, data readiness, governance, and delivery capacity.

A small amount of clarity now can prevent a year of rework later.

If you’re shaping FY27 priorities, a useful question is:
What will remove friction in day-to-day work - not just look good on a roadmap?

If you want to sense-check priorities and outline the “next best moves” for the first quarter, contact us to discuss: https://www.solentive.com/fy27-clarity-session

🚨 Tomorrow’s the day! 🚨

If you’re working in the NFP space and thinking about fundraising, this one’s for you.

We’re hosting a live session on Sustainable Fundraising for Not-for-Profits - and we’ll be unpacking why traditional approaches just aren’t holding up anymore.... and more importantly… what you can do about it!

In this session, hosted by Brendon Rubie (Solentive) and Joanna Killalea-Walford (Microsoft), we’ll cover:
✨ Why fundraising models are under pressure right now
✨ The real cost of “doing nothing”
✨ How AI and data can help you retain donors and grow sustainably

If you’ve been meaning to rethink your approach, improve retention, or just get clearer on what’s possible… now’s the perfect time.

In a recent conversation with The Smith Family, Brendon shared a perspective that doesn’t get talked about enough when it comes to AI: the risk of not changing.

There’s a lot of caution around AI - and that’s fair.

But something that doesn’t get talked about enough is the risk of not changing.

While some organisations are still figuring out where AI fits, others are already building capability and learning what works (and what doesn’t).

Over time, that gap gets harder to close.

It’s not about rushing in - but standing still isn’t a neutral decision either.

At Solentive, we work with organisations to turn AI from a big concept into practical action, helping teams:
🟢 Identify opportunities
🟢 Build capability and,
🟢 Put the right foundations in place.

AI is getting a lot of attention right now - but actually putting it into practice is where things start to get tricky.

The latest State of the CIO study from Foundry really reflects what we’re hearing in conversations too...
It’s not always clear:
➡️ Where to focus
➡️ How to measure success, or
➡️ How to build the right capability internally.

And that can slow things down.

AI on its own isn’t the hard part, it’s everything around it. Getting aligned on direction, defining what “good” looks like, and making sure you’ve got the right people and skills in place.

An interesting question: how is technology actually showing up across your organisation?

At our recent breakfast event, one idea that stuck was the shift towards “democratising IT”.

When technology becomes part of everyone’s day-to-day, it changes things, and raises some practical questions:
👉 Who’s leading digital?
👉 Is tech seen as a cost, or something that enables your people?
👉 How are you supporting people through the change?

Because that part is easy to underestimate.

Change doesn’t end with the project. It continues long after, as people adjust habits, behaviours, and ways of working.

And we all feel that.

So while it often gets framed as a technology challenge, it really comes back to people.

If that’s something you’re working through, it’s always a worthwhile conversation to have.

No better way to start a Friday than with a hearty breakfast and a catch-up ☕🥐

This morning our co-working space put on breakfast for us - and it was the perfect way to start what’s shaped up to be a busy day! It was a great reset before getting stuck into things.

Big thanks to Hub Australia for organising! 😍

One of the huge perks of working in a co-working space - the sense of community, the familiar faces, and the connections you build.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

The latest State of the CIO study from Foundry gives a clear signal - we’re seeing a shift toward practical, outcomes-driven technology.

What stands out is how closely these priorities are aligned.
➡️ It’s no longer about experimenting with emerging tech
➡️ It’s about embedding intelligence into everyday operations
➡️ And doing it in a way that is secure, scalable, and measurable

For organisations, the opportunity isn’t just adopting these technologies... it’s connecting them to real business value.

Curious how others are approaching this balance between innovation and impact?

🌟 Co‑Host Spotlight: Joanna Killalea-Walford (Microsoft) 🌟

We’re really pleased to be partnering with Joanna, Partner Solution Manager at Microsoft, who will be co‑hosting our upcoming webinar on Sustainable Fundraising for NFPs.

Jo works closely with not‑for‑profit, education and for‑purpose organisations, helping them use technology in ways that genuinely support mission, impact and long‑term sustainability. She brings a strong focus on equity, inclusion and empowering organisations to do more with limited resources - values that sit at the core of sustainable fundraising.

Together, we’ll explore how data, digital platforms and responsible use of technology can help NFPs build stronger donor relationships, move beyond one‑off donations, and create more predictable, sustainable fundraising approaches.

If you’re navigating donor retention, rising acquisition costs or increasing expectations around transparency and impact, this session will offer practical, real‑world insights you can take straight back to your organisation.
