Free Range Pork from the hills of South Preston in Tasmania’s North West. Preston Ridge Free Range Pork are a boutique, new age farmer with a re-imagined product. “Pigs are clever” farmer David Mecoy says, he tells us that his flock eat in the paddocks, sleep together in their pen and go outside to do their business. There is plenty of quick access, budget pork options for consumers, but having people understand that pork is a premium meat is important to David. The difference in their pork product comes through in taste, after all, you are what you eat and at Preston Ridge, you have one of the cleanest environments. Those hills are at the top of the water source, the soil is rich and the farm won’t touch any chemicals.
To align ourselves, we walked the paddocks, met the pigs and saw the way they live. We took influence from the pig’s shape and the hills that they grazed; the land looks healthy and so do they. Using a profile of a pig, we paired and embedded it within the Preston Hills. The line work styling promotes both sophistication (through precise alignment) and the contours of the landscape.
The result points consumers towards the farm’s environment first, stating its different; its fresh approach. With the pig’s silhouette entwined and accompanied by bold, clear industry theming, the brand becomes totally recognisable in a distinct but clean presence. Combining the own-able and highlighting the Preston Ridge story.
