Quite proud of this moving little video I made documenting of the Town of Claremont’s Anzac Day ceremony a couple of weeks ago. I was a beautiful event. I was shooting stills simultaneously.

As an artist, I really value documenting other artists work and helping promote our creative community. I find it so thrilling to see inside an artist studio, it’s like seeing into a magical world. Artwork documentation and portraits of the community at the Swan River Print Studio . The group of artists work inside private and shared studio spaces in the beautiful heritage buildings at Goolugatup Heathcote Reserve. It must be one of the most beautiful spots on the Swan River.

Business-in-action and staff portraits for the Perth studio of Hames Sharley — an architecture, landscape and interior design practice.

By combining authentic, in-action moments with natural staff portraits in a single shoot, we created a substantial and versatile image library at a cost effective price. The collection now supports internal communications, team profiles on their website, and professional presence across LinkedIn.

Thank you to Hannah Fredriksson, Senior Communications Designer for this testimonial:

“Miles is our go-to for photographing people –  he was able to work smoothly and efficiently with our team of 70+ people, while taking the time to make sure everyone felt at ease to capture the bright spark within them. The team loved having a say in which final options were selected and were overall super pleased with the outcome.”

Hi there! I’ll keep this pinned for anyone curious about my story and what I offer.

I’m a Perth-born photographer and graphic designer with nearly 20 years’ experience. I began in graphic design, which shaped my understanding of culture, art history and visual communication. I believe good design should inspire, entertain and delight — while clearly communicating a strong, central idea.

Today, I work primarily in commercial photography, specialising in portraits, corporate, art documentation, events and community projects. Photography lets me combine creativity with curiosity — stepping into new spaces, meeting new people and telling stories. My approach is relaxed but organised. When photographing people, I aim to create a fun experience that feels natural and enjoyable. Authenticity matters more than ever in the AI age we’re living in. I also love creative portraits. Play isn’t just for kids and is important to experiment, discover new tools and ways of seeing, as well as connecting with new people.

Alongside photography, I’m a practising painter currently working in watercolour. I’ve held several solo exhibitions, so I understand firsthand the vulnerability and logistics involved in exhibiting work. Documenting other artists work is something I genuinely value.

Community is important to me. I volunteer with Northbridge Common, our local town team, and recently curated “Take 5,” a community exhibition where locals documented the neighbourhood on disposable cameras, culminating in a laneway exhibition in Northbridge.

I’m driven by diversity, and love working with clients both big and small, especially those who promote education, arts, design, culture, health, and sustainability. I approach each project with enthusiasm and positivity, no matter how big or small. I can’t help it.

Beautiful summer vibes at Perth Festival’s launch at East Perth Power Station last night! Congrats to all who transformed the rough diamond into the warm welcoming Casa Musica. I hope you make it down over this year’s season!

Fringe is ON NOW so I thought I’d do a throwback to a fun artist shoot with gravity defying dancers and .m.mall in the Pleasure Gardens. I’m taking a break from shooting the festival this year, but will definitely be out enjoying shows on a balmy night.

I’m definitely a romantic as my little heart flutters when enjoying the recent Jacaranda blossoms. We forget how many are until this time of year when their vibrant bluish-purple colour peeks through almost everywhere you look. Here are a few vistas around my hood, near the city and Hyde Park. I used my 135mm lens to narrow my options for shooting, and a bit of AI to remove poles and add to the dreaminess. Enjoy 💜

City portraits of ARTRAGE’s new CEO and Creative Director, Jo Thomas, who just launched the 2026 Fringe program. Jo’s vision? More discovery, more walking between venues, and more reasons to get out into the heart of the city. I’m excited to see how her fresh perspective shapes the future of Fringe! The walking blurred portrait was a challenge but turned out sweet.

As promised, some photos from our recent visit to see the wildflowers Coalseam Conservation Park, just south of Geraldton. We stayed at the Miner’s campsite which was close to the river and felt nicely immersed in nature. I’ll never get tired of the constant birdsong. I’d definitely recommend visiting in Spring, as it will be a different story in summer. The drive from Perth is really lovely at this time of year.
