Last week, Diversus partnered with Varonis to host an exclusive roundtable dinner at Wildflower, bringing together IT and business leaders for an evening of insightful discussions, shared experiences and new connections.

The evening focused on the evolving challenges of data security, from protecting sensitive information to managing risk as organisations increasingly adopt AI and new technologies.

It was a great opportunity to step away from the day-to-day and have open, honest conversations about the challenges organisations are facing and how they're approaching them.

A big thank you to our partners at Varonis and everyone who joined us for the evening. We appreciate the perspectives shared and look forward to continuing the conversations.

Halloween at Diversus got a little creative this year! 🎃👻

Last week, our team got into the Halloween spirit with a costume contest, and it was great to see so many people getting involved!

We had everything from hot dogs and Minions to penguins, Up & Go mascot and even a few spooky characters.

Our Modern Workplace team took a tech-inspired approach, dressing up as Microsoft Copilot agents (very on-brand 🤖)

A special congratulations to Kia, who took out first place dressed as a hot dog! And a shoutout to Tobi for the Minion costume.

A bit of friendly competition, plenty of laughs and a great excuse to step away from our desks and have some fun together.

Thanks to everyone who participated and made the day memorable!

Innovation doesn't stall because of a lack of ideas. It stalls when organisations struggle to prove their value.

At the recent WA IT Leadership Summit, Diversus Principal Consultant Simon Rivers explored a challenge many technology leaders face: how do you move from promising ideas to meaningful business outcomes?

His session, “Intention, inertia, investigate, invest”, challenged leaders to rethink how they approach technology investment and overcome the fear, uncertainty and doubt (FUD) that often holds progress back.

The key takeaway? You don't need to prove everything upfront. You need to prove enough to take the next step.

That means:

🎯 Start with the business problem, not the technology.

🔎 Investigate before investing, using rapid prototypes and proofs of concept to test assumptions and demonstrate value.

📊 Define success early, with clear criteria to assess whether an idea is worth pursuing.

🤝 Bring decision-makers into the conversation, ensuring business priorities, budgets and technology investments are aligned.

💡 Innovation isn't about chasing the next big thing. It's about making informed decisions, reducing risk and building the confidence to move forward.

We believe the most valuable technology investments start with a clear understanding of the problem you're trying to solve.

What's the biggest barrier to innovation in your organisation: uncertainty, competing priorities or proving ROI?

If you're looking to turn ideas into measurable business outcomes, we'd love to hear from you.

Two days of great conversations, fresh perspectives and practical insights at the 2026 WA IT Leadership Summit!

Our Directors Claude De Lucia and Dien Tang, alongside Principal Consultant Simon Rivers, attended the summit, where Diversus was proud to be a Gold Partner alongside Amazon Web Services (AWS).

A highlight was Simon's presentation, Intention, inertia, investigate, invest, which explored how organisations can move beyond uncertainty and build a stronger case for technology investment.

Simon shared practical approaches to starting with business problems, using rapid prototypes to demonstrate value, and making informed decisions about where to invest.

Across the two days, the team connected with technology leaders from across WA, exchanging ideas and discussing the opportunities and challenges shaping our industry.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by for a chat, and to IT Leadership Network (APAC) for hosting the event.

How do you turn a promising technology idea into an investment decision the business can confidently support?

At next week's WA IT Leadership Summit, our Principal Consultant Simon Rivers will explore this challenge in his presentation:

Intention, Inertia, Investigate, Invest: Evidencing realisable value to overcome FUD and press the case for improvement.

Simon will share practical insights on how organisations can move from identifying opportunities to building a stronger case for change, including:
• Starting with the business problem, rather than the technology.
• Using rapid prototypes and proof of concepts to demonstrate potential value with lower risk.
• Establishing clear criteria to assess whether an idea is worth pursuing.
• Involving the right decision-makers and budget holders early.

We're excited to be partnering with Amazon Web Services at this year's WA IT Leadership Summit, where we'll share practical perspectives on building stronger business cases for technology investment and making informed decisions about change.

Attending the summit? We'd love to see you there.

An intranet should make work easier. So why do so many employees still struggle to find what they need?

A useful intranet is more than a place to store documents, policies and company updates. It should help people find information, connect with colleagues and get things done without unnecessary steps.

When reviewing an intranet, there are a few questions worth asking:
🔎 Can people find what they need?
📅 Is the content relevant and current?
⚙️ Does it support everyday tasks?
👥 Are employees involved in its design?

Technology is only part of the solution. A successful intranet also needs thoughtful design, clear governance and ongoing improvement.

Because the best digital workplace experiences are built around the people using them.

The AI conversation needs to move beyond “What can we automate?”

A better question is: “What should we make easier for people?”

AI can process more information, accelerate repetitive work and surface insights faster. But speed alone doesn’t create value.

The real opportunity is in how that capability changes the way people work, giving them better information, reducing friction and creating more time for judgement, creativity and meaningful decisions.

That requires more than choosing the right technology. It means understanding the people using it, the problem you’re solving and what a better outcome actually looks like.

AI should amplify what people do well, not simply automate what they do today.

Microsoft has disrupted EvilTokens, an AI-enabled cybercrime platform linked to more than 12,000 compromised inboxes across 10,000 organisations, with Australia among the most affected countries.

The platform used device-code phishing to trick people into approving access through Microsoft’s legitimate sign-in process. Once inside, its AI tools could analyse emails, identify financial decision-makers and create targeted fraud messages.

It is an important reminder that identity security is about more than passwords and MFA.

Organisations should consider:
• Blocking device-code authentication where it is not required
• Reviewing Conditional Access policies
• Monitoring suspicious inbox rules and device registrations
• Revoking active tokens and sessions following a compromise
• Giving employees a clear way to verify unusual sign-in requests

Security controls matter. Helping people recognise when a legitimate process is being misused matters just as much.

Is your organisation confident its identity controls would detect this type of attack?

A promising pilot is a starting point. The harder question is what happens next.

Before scaling, leaders need to know what the results have shown, who will own the next phase, and what needs to change for people to use the solution in their day-to-day work.

That’s where digital transformation becomes practical: connecting the business goal, the technology and the people who will make it work.

At Diversus, we help organisations turn promising ideas into clear plans for delivery. If you’re deciding what to scale, change or stop, let’s talk: https://diversus.com.au/Contact?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=organic_social
