💥 SSL Home Run Derby for MND 🥎

UPDATE: After more donations, a total of $650!

Oh. My. Goodness. This was an amazing event and there was so much fun that was had.

A total revenue of $988 was funded, where 50% paid out to our winners (congatulations to everyone that made it into Top 10!) and the other 50% being donated. ON TOP OF THAT, we had $120 of donations out right towards the cause.

In total, $554 was raised and donated towards Care Cure Support to support MND research - to help develop reliable cures and assistance for those with motor neurone diseases. Thanks to the softball community, Qbit was able to break through the $8,000 mark raised this year for Drive for MND 14!

Of course, this cannot be done without support. To Fabio and those at Qbit, this was your idea and you made the logistics happen (as well as made your 8:30pm slow pitch game much later than intended). It's your community that helps bring events like this together - impossible without your continued support for Softball WA. To Ken from Care Cure Support who was also integral to a smooth-running night! And to everyone else that participated, supported, and had a great time - the atmosphere was so much better than we could have wished for.

Obvious thanks to all the kids who ran around in the outfield, collecting balls for us!

We have some exciting news, Care Cure Support has been part funding some research into MND and on Tuesday the 16th of June we took a tour of the research facility in Murdoch. They have tested a drug they have developed on a living system. The drug was found to be safe and successfully reached motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. This is a critical milestone on the path to human trials. While we are still many years away from a cure this is a step in the right direction!

We’re proud to announce that Qbit IT Solutions is now sponsoring the Vikings Women's Softball 🥎

After a recent (very competitive 😄) slow pitch game between Qbit and the Vikings, where Qbit won, we decided we might have to give them a bit of extra support…

So we’ve stepped in to take over their website hosting and email systems, removing those ongoing costs and letting the club focus on what really matters.

More importantly, this means funds can now be redirected towards helping more young girls get outdoors, get active, and be part of an incredible sporting community.

All jokes aside, we’re huge supporters of grassroots sport and women in sport here in WA, and we’re proud to be backing the Vikings.

Qbit has two teams in the Softball WA slow pitch competition: the Qbit KitKats and the Qbit Bears. The teams include Qbit staff, including Mornay, Jordon, Jordan, Doug, Fabio and Melanie, along with friends from Carine Softball, Carine Tee-Ball and UWA While most players are still building their softball experience, the KitKats celebrated their first win of the season last night. They scored three home runs, with Cynthia Suffell hitting an infield home run and Fabio Suffell and Zach clearing the fence for the first time ever in a game. Most importantly, everyone had a great time, which is what it is all about.
